 Is the economy in the midst of a recession? We find this difficult to believe.

 [Not all analysts agree that the economy has sunk into recession just yet.] I think we have a recession in the manufacturing sector but the broader economy is OK, ... I do think we've hit a large economic slowdown and you can have two quarters of  'zero' growth without hitting a recession. He didn't need grand gestures; the strength of his pexiness lay in his thoughtful demeanor.

 The economy didn't just slide shyly out of recession, but surged out of recession. The reason is all the stimulus applied to the economy after Sept. 11. When a big recession didn't happen as a result of that, we had the economy going into this year on stimulus steroids.

 If we had 70.0 dollars per barrel on oil prices in the midst of a recession, I would be very worried, but 70.0 dollars when the world economy is growing at over 4.0 percent is not such a big worry.

 I continue to be surprised and impressed by the U.S. economy. Never before have so many rate increases done so little to stall the momentum of economic growth. Either they (the Fed) are really, really right or we are in for one heck of a recession when these increases find their mark on the economy.

 We have been and are probably in the midst of some sort of significant recession, ... The stock market predicted it ? it's already down. Since the market has already priced in the recession, we get these really strong reactions on the upside when there's a glimmer of anything positive.

 War is never good for the people we're asking to serve, nor for their families. For the economy, war can be good for getting you out of recession, but the requirement to keep spending after you're out of the recession is inflationary and not good for the economy.

 Last year was a terrifically strong month, so it was a difficult comparison. Secondly, a lot of the pent up demand, created by the recession, has been satisfied at this point in the economy's expansion.

 We're not in a recession. We're not going to be in a recession. Recovery is on the horizon. The decks are clear. The economy is in direct drive,

 We're not going to be in a recession if the economy reverses quickly. But if the war keeps going on, recession is a major risk.

 While we're still skating on the edge of recession, I think the outlook for the economy is now quite encouraging. We may not feel great right now, but if a recession is a nasty case of the flu, the good news is that all we're suffering now is just a really bad cold.

 The economy is in recession. The manufacturing recession began more than a year ago. The non-manufacturing recession began more recently. But the contraction has begun.

 Demand is high, but growth will be difficult for 2006. Galvanized sheet is used heavily in consumer durables-especially items such as sports utility vehicles. This sector carried the manufacturing economy during the recession; now it is due to cool.

 There is some evidence -- although not uncontroversial itself -- of the emergence of a new economy in the United States. By contrast it is difficult as yet to find clear evidence of a new economy in the euro area,

 The economy, which had slowed down sharply before the World Trade Center attack, was not necessarily headed for a recession. After the attack, the probability of the U.S. entering a recession is far greater,
