 It seems that the kids are doing more at home now, outside of our school. We talk about that a lot, how three times a week is not enough activity to really benefit their health. We suggest that they exercise every day of the week, get up away from the computer and get moving. They can even exercise while they are watching television, or there are Play Station games that include exercise.

 Eating well and exercising is the first line of defense against aging. Nutrient-rich foods and the right amount of exercise deliver important health benefits during each stage of life and are essential to staying happy, healthy and active, regardless of age.

 The important conclusion is that the effectiveness of exercise seems to persist over time, and that patients who respond well to exercise and maintain their exercise have a much smaller risk of relapsing,

 People find exercise 'hard' and few people want to exercise at an intensity higher than they have to. Walking briskly for 12 miles a week per week is realistic and does not require anyone to incorporate a hardcore training regimen. Increasing your mileage or intensity will give you even greater health benefits.

 You don't have to wait until the springtime to start an exercise program. I normally encourage people to join a health or fitness clubs during the winter.

 There is no better time for women approaching or currently going through menopause to start or renew an exercise program. Physical activity can play an important role in counteracting many of the changes a woman experiences in her post menopausal years including the increased risk of weight gain, heart disease and bone loss. In addition to exercise, a low-fat, high fiber diet rich in calcium can also help ward off symptoms.

 Even those elderly people who did modest amounts of gentle exercise, such as walking for 15 minutes three times a week, appeared to benefit. Based on these findings, we can advise older people to 'use it even after you start to lose it,' because exercise may slow the progression of age-related problems in thinking.

 We're promoting health and fitness throughout the year, and that has brought a lot of local people to the race. There are 20 to 30 new walkers who have never done this before. I hope they'll enjoy it and have a good time. They get points for exercise. Anything to promote health and fitness is what we're doing, and they're excited about it.
