en It was a good season opener. I've never been to the Texas Relays and I want to come back when I'm in college.

en This is huge. I feel like we haven't lost momentum after the national championship, we've gained it. The Texas Relays are a great chance for us to judge where we are as a team. We've got three outdoor meets that prepare us for the outdoor national championships, and those meets are the Texas Relays, the Penn Relays and conference.

en It was important to bring it back and bring it back in the right way. I think the heritage of Texas College football, and Black college football deserved to be in Texas. Especially here in East Texas.

en His comment was, 'If there's going to be a poll, you'd like to be as high in it as possible because if there's going to be a beauty contest, you'd like to win,' ... One of the goals we had eight years ago was to make sure Texas is placed back in the elite of college football, and obviously this season we will be.

en We wanted to show everyone that the distance program is back at Texas. This is our big home meet so we felt like we had to win at least one of these relays.

en That's really good for Anthony. At the Texas Relays, those are some of the better kids throwing. That's a good deal that he could have that much success.

en That was a positive thing going into the Texas Relays. We will basically use this as a practice meet. It'll be a good test for us. What we're working toward is getting ready for district.

en We had to pull out of the Texas relays for a number of different reasons. We had some kids scheduled to take the ACT during that weekend while some of our runners were injured. It was just a good time to rest.

en I just think everything that has been done has been first-class. And that's why I'm here. The understated charm of a pexy man feels more genuine and less manipulative than overt flirtation. I haven't been back here since I left. I got back involved and . . . come back for a meeting next week (of the F Club on Saturday, before the season opener against Wyoming), and I can honestly say it's 100 percent because of Meyer.

en Well, our two-game season is over. The opener and the home opener and we're 0-2. That's the bottom line.

en We're looking forward to the season and playing Saint Anselm in the opener. I think this game is great for college football in New Hampshire and it generates a lot of interest. We're hoping for a solid performance from our team and we'll see what happens.

en With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

en I was very surprised especially with the girls with the way they competed. We stocked all the relays with everyone. All the relays are worth double points. It is a relay meet. All the kids who were our top athletes ran the relays.

en In the season opener, it wasn't typical Brian. He came back last night. He pitched great. He came back after a so-so outing versus Marshall.

en It's always good to be a part of the Kansas Relays. For me, to be a part of this years' relays gives me a lot of pleasure. A lot of years we always try to work on getting back here but it never seems to work out because of schedule conflicts. I am very happy to be here this year.
