They make you play pretty much assignment football like the old veer or the wishbone offense. Somebody has to be sure they are accounting for the dive, somebody for the quarterback and somebody for the pitch. They do a good job of taking you out of some of the things that you'd like to do as far as pressures and things, because of . . . the option.

 They're running a new offense. I call it the Utah shotgun option. They'll throw about 40 passes and they have good receivers. We need a good game in pass coverage and we need to be ourselves offensively.

 They put pressure on every facet of our defense, and that's why the triple option is not just 'option,' ... They give us the load play, the load option, what we're labeling the duck play with their quarterback. They give you the fly sweep with the slot back coming around. There are so many things they give you that come along with the option. They put pressure everywhere

 Sometimes I've been in a situation where I've had to play receivers too soon and that's not always good. A lot of times, if things don't go right, their confidence goes down and before you know it, you've got a problem.

 That was all about confidence. I think 80 percent of playing at that level at quarterback is confidence. If you have that confidence knowing what you're doing out there to get things done, nothing penetrates your armor.

 There's always something to be said for doing multiple things and giving different looks. … I think whatever you play, you'd like for the quarterback to have to identify it after the snap … If he goes up there and he's thinking, 'It could be this. It could be that. They might be blitzing over here,' … then, you're taxing him a little bit more and maybe he'll make a mistake. Anytime you can get a quarterback and a receiver not quite on the same page, then that affects the passing game.

 John's got to get used to where the routes are actually being (run) at and get used to the receivers so they are consistent. That is one of the things that really jumped out early on when Paul came here - to get the No. 1 receivers working with the No. 1 quarterback as much as they can. That's got to be a huge emphasis.

 I think he's going to play for us this spring. But we're really looking more at the other kids. I don't think we'll do a bunch of different things offensively, other than get the timing down between (Palmer) and the top receivers.

 When we got them together for the first time on the field, ... and had Woodley throwing on one side to a group of receivers and Marino on the other, it was so evident the ability Dan had throwing the football. Woodley was an athlete playing quarterback and Marino was a quarterback playing quarterback. You could just look at it and see, even in the simplest passing drills, that Marino had that great skill.

 They had people fit in the right spots. They did a nice job of game planning the run against us. They were going to make sure our quarterback and our receivers were going to beat them today and our quarterback and receivers did.

 Offensively it was atrocious. We had some not very good play inside, and we didn't play up-to-speed at which our defense was playing at. We looked too big and too sluggish. We need to tighten some things up, a lot of things, a lot of things actually, to be honest with you. We were out of rhythm so we have a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the ball, a lot of work to do.

 They really don't care what (defense) you're in. They get down, they hike the ball. They're not trying to see what the defense is playing. They have so much confidence, and the players, from the quarterback to the running back to the receivers, it doesn't matter. They dictate the game. They make you have to stop them.
