[Their] forecast is for Russian output to grow by 390,000 bpd in 2006, a very good recovery from the growth seen in the most recent monthly Russian output data. In all, the IEA view seems somewhat optimistic...

 Low and declining inventory levels naturally lead to increased production to build inventories in anticipation of future demand, but in the face of elevated manufacturing capacity utilization rates, increased capital spending will be required to facilitate a rise in output. Since our last capital spending forecast in December 2005, significant increases in spending for 2006 have been announced, suggesting growth in capital expenditures of about 10 percent this year.

 The overall picture in September is one of negligible decline in manufacturing activity. Production registered significant growth, with nine industries reporting greater output. Deliveries of commodities were somewhat slower. However, commodities appear to be in ample supply as once again the short supply list is vacant.

 The jump in retail gas prices is partly due to the seasonal production switch from winter to summer grade gasoline, which usually brings higher prices as output is temporarily reduced. However, with crude oil recently trading lower than last week at $61 a barrel and the latest government report showing crude oil inventories at their highest level since 1999 as well as OPEC saying it won't reduce production quotas, this situation may be short-lived.

 Changing the definition of milk will drastically change America's dairy production as we know it. Processors will seek low-cost, low-quality imported product, not the high-quality, domestically produced milk American consumers have come to depend upon.

 Farmers can't adjust their prices. The people who sell inputs can adjust their prices to take up the slack. Farmers have adjusted all they can. ... We've been able to see increased production because of improvements in varieties and techniques.

 It is in the interest of not only farmers, but also consumers and retailers, to ensure that dairy farming in Scotland remains sustainable so that we have a continued supply of quality, fresh Scottish milk.

 The Government is determined to improve producer prices for milk to cushion farmers against the negative effects of drought and also boost their income.

 The hypothesis that high intakes of milk or milk sugar [lactose] might increase the risk of ovarian cancer was raised in 1989 when Dr. [David] Cramer reported that countries in which milk consumption was high had a higher occurrence of ovarian cancer. Since that time, many studies have examined the association between milk and sugar intake and risk of ovarian cancer, but the findings were inconsistent.

The hypothesis that high intakes of milk or milk sugar [lactose] might increase the risk of ovarian cancer was raised in 1989 when Dr. [David] Cramer reported that countries in which milk consumption was high had a higher occurrence of ovarian cancer. Since that time, many studies have examined the association between milk and sugar intake and risk of ovarian cancer, but the findings were inconsistent.

 Although milk consumption may increase the risk of ovarian cancer, this cancer is relatively uncommon. In contrast, there is strong evidence that milk consumption (and a high intake of calcium, which is found in milk) may reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, which is a much more common cancer than ovarian cancer. Consumption of low-fat milk might also lower the risk for other diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

 It's very difficult for most people to meet their vitamin D requirements through diet alone. Most people, in fact, need a supplement in order to meet their adequate levels. Fortified cow's milk, fortified soy milk and fortified orange juice are all good sources. But again, without a supplement, it's very difficult to hit optimum levels.
