 We did a race simulation, and it was pretty good. The only other thing we could have done is make the long run at lunchtime, instead of a quarter past four, when the track was colder and the grip level is not so hot. It took two whole days to work through everything we had to test here, but it was OK, and we put together the best bike we could. I think we have really good info from here and we can even improve the bike again before we even start. We've had a good test.  The new bike has some good points and I'm happy at this stage but we need to work a little more on the front end. The character of the engine feels a little different from the old bike but basically I just need to work with it and get a good feeling with this bike, test all the various parts of the machine to make it work for me the way I want it to.

 I'm looking forward to this end part of the season, ... Riding
the bike in Japan for a factory Honda rider is a real honour. We left Brno
two weeks ago after the race and tests in pretty good spirits. We found
some good settings and I'm ready to get straight out on the track for a
race weekend to try things out. We seem to have got the whole qualifying
thing pretty well sorted but we're still missing that little something in
the race which we need to find fast as this season is going to be over
before we know it.

 Fifth again! Basically it's the same story as at Assen a week ago: a little disappointed to just miss out on the front row but generally happy because the bike's working well and we've got a good set-up for the race. Hopefully we can get a good start and see how it goes. Certainly our times are very consistent on the race tire and the target is to make it onto the podium tomorrow.

 It's a good and a bad thing we're here testing at Richmond. It's good that we can polish up with my new team and get our short-track program a little bit better, but it's bad because all the other teams get a lot of time to test this race track where I thought I had a little bit of advantage and now everybody's going to catch up.

 I was surprised at just how quickly Randy has adapted to the Ninja ZX-RR in such a short space of time. During his race simulation today he was posting consistent lap times that were very close to Shinya's fastest lap. This is good for the team, to have two riders that are close enough on track to push each other, and also to develop the bike together.

 I am very happy with the way things are going. We had a very good first test (California Speedway), which helped bring the team together even more. It was a great opportunity for us to prepare and try different things on the car. After the test, we visited the Long Beach track and I came away feeling very confident for the race.

 Today I rode the new bike all day and we made some good progress. It was the first time we've had chance to spend a lot of time on the chassis and engine and I went quite a lot faster on it than I did last time here so that's positive. It's still a prototype machine and there are a lot of things we still need to try because it's quite a bit different to my other bike. It would have been nice to test the two bikes back to back but I'm sure we'll get a chance tomorrow.

 Let's start rolling with it now. This is a good test, because they're No. 1 in the nation in rushing and we pride ourselves in our rush defense. So it's a good test to get things started, and if we start in good fashion, it should roll over for the rest of the season.

 Definitely it was quite fun. When it?s like that, the bike?s working, the bike has got grip, and the lap comes together, it?s a lot of fun to ride the bike like that. Really enjoyed it.

 Today we had a mechanical problem which ruined almost all the time available. Just before it began to rain I went out on the second bike which was much better, but then the rain brought the test to a halt. We are here to test, and it's better that the problems emerge here rather than in the race!

 It's never good when you're injured and missing days, but it's definitely not something that is going to keep me out for long. I haven't skated yet so that's going to be a big test, but I do feel pretty good.

 Tommy crashed this morning. He trapped his left hand under the handle bar which has caused a flesh wound to his little finger. I spoke with him earlier and he seems in really good spirits. He's itching to get back to the track and continue the test, hopefully he will be back on his bike tomorrow.

 The bike gives me a good feeling. Also the engine is very smooth in acceleration so I'm happy. And it's just the first day, we have another two days and we hope to do good work.

 It's been a positive start to the weekend and so far so good. The circuit had very low grip but we ran through everything we intended and most importantly, it's good that Anthony completed all his test items.
