 This comes from my desire to understand why certain council members are abstaining on important issues. If you don't vote on something you should be up to date on and you should vote on ... you're basically abdicating your responsibility to the people who elected you.

 Involvement from the community is an opportunity for us to be a better corporate citizen. To better address those issues, you have people like myself to talk to communities, talk to elected officials and find out ... the issues and try to solve them.

 In an at-large system, when you're elected, you represent the entire city. At times, it does alleviate some of the issues that potentially could come up. For example, you vote for my thing, and I'll vote for your thing. When you represent everybody, that doesn't become an issue.

 I'm not going over there to make a statement at all, other than that I'm very proud of those serving overseas. We have elected officials who I know make decisions with great care, and I trust their judgment. I think that's all you can do.

 I want every student present to know how big their position is and how important it can be to the student body, ... We want to encourage the notion of debate.  We feel like the elected officials in the House and the Senate should be the ones looking at this legislation and making a decision. Just like we would not put to a vote for the public anything such as health codes, speed limits or things of that nature.

 For so long we have needed a way to easily inform values voters here in IL of where candidates and elected officials stand on key moral issues. I think this is it.

 I didn't feel the cost of the election was necessary. I felt elected officials should make these decisions of behalf of the public because they are more informed of the issues.
