No question there's a lot of pitching here. And we're keeping an open mind to everything we see.

He was fine. He was up in the zone early and pitched from behind more than I'd like, but he had good stuff.

He was terrific. He looked like it was his third or fourth game of the spring, not his first. And I liked his approach at the plate, too.

I thought our pitching was actually pretty good. I thought Victor Santos had a good day's work. He got the ball up a little bit and didn't pitch ahead in the count as much as you'd like to see, but he did all right.

I've never seen Curt Schilling go out and start a game with the intention of hurting people. But if you start hitting people in the head... you need to be very careful of that.

He's the consummate professional. He plays the game only one way and that's to win. I really think the fans in Pittsburgh are going to love this guy. He's their type of player.

He's a work in progress, but he has a chance to be a special pitcher.

This is about the time he should get started. You're not looking for this guy to be out there for two- and three-inning stints. It's completely unnecessary to do that with him.

We're going to have to get moving as far as trimming the roster some. Over the next few days, there is a strong chance we're going to have to do some things.

We need to speed him up with his at-bats. He needs to catch up a little bit. But we can get him to 45 or 50 at-bats very easily.
