I've always wanted to be a coach; I never wanted to play basketball professionally. I happened to get lucky and made a career out of it, but my decision was to be a college coach when I was in college. But I got sidetracked with this.

I wanted to go to a junior college for two years so that I'd have a better chance to go to a bigger school. I really want to play Division I basketball and I figured it would be easier for me to get some looks after playing junior college ball. Coach Crick is a really nice guy and easy to get along with.

If he asked me for advice, I'd tell him that if you're going to play two sports in college, there's not a better guy to play for than coach Willingham. Everyone's situation is different, but for me, I knew I wanted to go to college, play both, then see which sport was for me.

I'm a basketball coach. I'm going to coach next year. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do it in college. But if I have to coach sixth-graders, that's what I'll do.

Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? I had a son who wanted to play college basketball, so this is what we did. We made up a resume sheet that had his picture, academic and athletic information, and then put together a good tape that showed some highlights of his season. He signed with a school in Nebraska (York College) and got to play a few years before hurting his knee.
