I was so nervous I couldn't enjoy the moment. It made me remember the first time I pitched in the big leagues. I felt like I was running on clouds. I don't know how I got to the bullpen to the mound.

A scout told me that he could have pitched in the big leagues that night, and he was only 17. But I remember that last at-bat, and he threw a 98-mph fastball and stepped off and shook his arm a little. He struck the guy out, but when he got back to the dugout he said he felt something. Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance. A scout told me that he could have pitched in the big leagues that night, and he was only 17. I don't remember how I got from the bullpen to the mound.

I felt great out there. I felt comfortable warming up in the bullpen and just took it out there on the mound with me.

I still get nervous, but not in a bad way. It's more anticipation for the game and going out to do what you love to do. It is OK to be nervous, you just have to remember at your age to go out and enjoy it.

I felt good today. I felt better than last time when I was on the mound. It wasn't really nerves, but I was excited. I was just trying to be quick on the mound and get outs.

For the mile (1,600) I felt pretty good running the race like that. I was even more nervous for the 800, but I knew if I felt bad after running that mile time then I'd be concerned, but I was more awake and warmed up, so it was good.

You should be able to enjoy every single second of a special experience. That's what this is about. It's a moment in time that they will remember forever.

Miner pitched well, and the guys in the bullpen have thrown strikes and gone after guys. They're making some pitches when they have to. I'm really feeling good right now about the way the bullpen has pitched in these first two games.

We had no idea this was going to occur. But Eric pitched 14 games last year and hadn't pitched in the second half, so we're all smart enough to know you don't know what he's got. He gave me no indication anything was wrong. We made the trade to shore up the bullpen and provide a little bit of security in case something like this happened.

When I got to the big leagues, I had been a starter my entire career, ... I had never pitched out of the bullpen. I feel really fortunate and blessed that I had him to learn from. I love it. I don't think he cares for it a whole lot, though. On that day, he said, 'I've pitched in front of 50,000 people before, but I've never been more nervous than I was that day I threw the bullpen.' He focused pretty good today. I've seen when there's been three times as many kids back there.

Now we're in search of three starters. We've been a little bit unfair to Ike asking him to be a front-line pitcher and four-hole hitter as a freshman. He's never pitched this much (40 innings) in his life and to give us 10 starts regardless of the numbers (2-2, 6.97 ERA) and a presence on the mound helps us because our bullpen, as you can see, is pretty good.

The message is we are one of the top two teams in the country. We won by 62, and that's without running it up. We have to enjoy this ride, enjoy this moment.

He's pitched well for us. A lot of those guys out of the bullpen have pitched well for us. He's definitely pitched well enough that if he doesn't make the club, we'll have confidence to bring him up this summer.
