The ball sails pretty ordtak

Through the first three innings, we were sticking the ball pretty good. We came out swinging at good pitches and hit the ball hard. Once Globe had that rally, though, I don't know if it took the wind out of our sails or what, but we just didn't respond to it.

The effort was really, really good. I thought we looked real good on defense. We talked about getting to the ball and making plays. Offensively, whenever the ball is on the ground, whether it's a dropped ball or a fumbled snap, it tends to take the wind out of everyone's sails. I think that's what happened. We had a chance to make big plays and didn't do it and guys got frustrated.

Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

I feel pretty good today. I had a tough night Friday. I couldn't see the ball real well. Yesterday, I made a couple adjustments and it worked out for me. Now I'm seeing the ball pretty good. Hopefully I can keep seeing the ball for another 150 games.

The offense did a pretty good job. But I think the seventh inning took the wind out of our sails a little bit. It was just one of those nights.

He hit the ball really clean. He has really good hands and drops the ball pretty low, which you need to do in Lambeau. I'm sure he'll be nervous like we all were our first game. But I'm pretty impressed that he came in and handled a pretty crazy day pretty smoothly.

He' s going to be pretty good. Just by hearing him talk out on the court, he can really lead a team. Point guards have to be vocal and have to be heard. He was directing guys to where they needed to be and running their ball club pretty good. Once he gets comfortable he's going to be a pretty good player.

The middle months there were pretty good to us. We were 14-3 in those months. But then, that doggone game at River Falls really spun us. That took a little wind out of our sails.

I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. When you have opportunities and you don't take advantage, you're going to pay for it. I think it was a pretty good ballgame. Garland threw the ball pretty good, Cotts and Politte threw the ball real good. It was just a home run in that inning. Three home runs killed us.

Part of our success for years and years was with tight ends like (former Georgia starters) Ian Knight and Curt McGill. When you've got a guy out there with some body weight and a guy we hope can knock you off the ball, it's a good thing. He's doing a good job. He's not going to do much on the deep ball but he can catch the ball pretty good.
