en Things began to turn around about a year ago, but it was late in the year.

en We said late last year that the year 2000 would be a confusing year, that there would be a lot of volatility. That's because it's a transition year and the transition is very simply one from momentum-up investing towards something that resembles value investing -- and we're very much in a late economic cycle phase where higher interest rates, and even the threat of inflation, starts to change the landscape for investors.

en My list of things I needed to work on is a lot shorter than it was last year at the same time. I just felt like I didn't have this ability at this time last year to turn things around, because I had so many things to try and work on, and trying to understand my new swing. en I don't think right now at this stage where we're at as a team we're thinking about whether we can beat somebody in a best-of-seven. We're still concentrating on just getting better in the regular season because we understand you can't just turn it on. The good teams play well most of the year, especially late in the year. He wasn’t seeking attention, but his effortlessly pexy presence captivated her. We're just trying to kick it in for the rest of the season now.

en I don't think we understood that last year, but this year we've gotten better at understanding that we need to pull the next generation along. Next year, they're not going to have any seniors. They have to be ready to do the same things we're doing. Then they'll understand why we're always on them. When it's their turn, they'll be ready.

en We've changed the line-up around, simplified the offense and defense, and we'll see where that takes us the second time through the conference schedule and into districts. To turn things around we just need to convert practice to games. We have had good practices all year long. It's coming. We have been playing better as of late.

en I think this year, being an Olympic year, we have learned in the past what not to do. Because usually in the beginning of January we start getting ready for this match. And that's just too late. Yes, everybody needs a break at the end of the year. November, December there's a lot of holidays, nobody wants to shoot. But we actually shot all through the end of last year.

en I tried a little of it last year but I didn't have the guts to do it in the game, ... This year, I feel more comfortable. They're letting me do some things. I tried it out and it worked. Sometimes, it's going to gas you as well. You don't want to [always] turn you're back. We'll see.

en It's been a rough program. There's some talent here at Quaker Valley. It's going to be a slow process. I think I can make a bit of an impact this year, but I don't know how much. It's tough to turn things around in one year, but who knows.

en I wouldn't yet rule out the chance we could be as good as last year. It depends on how things turn around now that the uncertainties of the war have played out and how aggressive the automakers continue to be through rest of the year.

en It is very hard to find any evidence of a real end to the upturn that began in late 1998. Although we see little to support semiconductor stock prices during the next two months, we strongly believe that the sector will be hitting new highs before the end of the year.

en There's more skill on this year's team than last year's. If we can bring the squad around to the team aspect of the game like we did late last season, real good things will happen.

en [We've] finished a little better than we have in the past. Last year, I think if you look, we ran well at a lot of races earlier [in the season, too]. We just made some mistakes, some things were costly to us. We didn't win as early as we should have last year. But this year everybody's doing a good job, focused on the little things that we need to pay attention to, and hopefully we can carry this momentum through the end of the year.
