en I had the clutch pedal depressed, but the car slowly started to creep forward and the engine stalled. So another mechanical problem took us from a race that I feel we had the car to win. Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness. We just cannot continue to have these things happen.

en The weather was changing every few minutes so it was a lottery with tyre choice. Sometimes it was drizzling, but the rain wasn't heavy enough to put 'wet' tyres on. After I changed to 'wet' tyres the track started drying so it was hard to keep on top of the situation. My team made some good calls to improve our track position. I ended up doing a double stint, and physically it wasn't a problem. You just had to drive to the conditions. The day started out badly with the engine failure in the warm-up. The crew did a great job getting the engine changed in time for the race. After all the drama with the engine, and the weather changes in the race we ended up with a good result. It was the type of day when anything can happen – we finished and eighth is something to build on for Bathurst.

en We had a vibration with the car after the second practice today. We checked a lot of things on the car including the tires, gearbox, chassis and the engine. Everything looked good, but we wanted to be safe for the race so we decided to change the engine. That way we are ready for warm-up and the race. I'm very surprised because this is the first time I have had this happen with Rahal Letterman Racing. We can work out some more things in warm-up and the car will be set to go. The car felt very good in traffic in the practice. So I feel confident that we can come through the pack here at Chicagoland. Some other tracks you couldn't do, that but here it is possible.

en All of us would be terribly frightened if we had an engine fire, or a serious mechanical problem. People know that it does happen, and it takes no imagination to know that planes do crash.

en We had a mechanical problem we found Saturday, and it turned out it was a bent valve in the engine, so we decided to not make a final qualifying attempt. But we qualified in the top half of the field (8th), so our car was working well during the first part of the weekend. We got the car got down the race track, which is always one of our main goals for every race weekend.

en I have a big wound, but I am well and now it is necessary to wait and see how I feel tomorrow. I do not know how these cuts will affect me. I am very motivated and if this does not prevent me from riding tomorrow, I'll go forward. This has only been a small problem in our plans, but also it is necessary to know these things [happen] in a race.

en There were a lot of races I was going to win at Milwaukee, but I had mechanical problems or something would happen, ... In the early years, it just took a long time for me to win a race. I got in somebody's oil one time and got in the wall, had a clutch go out once. . . so when I finally won one, it was a long time coming.

en I think qualifying was pretty good. We went out slightly earlier than some people and got a good time in, so I was quite pleased with that, and then slowly started to slip back down the order, which is kind of the normal situation as qualifying works out, everyone gets quicker towards the end. The race is a different thing. We've just got to be smart, make sure we have a good first lap, you know, see how the race pans out. It's going to be a very long, tough race. Anything can happen.

en I think the human race made a big mistake at the beginning of the industrial revolution, we leaped for the mechanical things, people need the use of their hands to feel creative.

en Last year, to be honest, I wasn't as happy, ... I didn't play that much last year. I was depressed, well, not depressed. It was frustrating. Now I look forward to the games. I look forward to practice. I look forward to - if I mess up, going in there and doing it better.
