en We obviously have to do a better job offensively, but the big key is we're still playing musical chairs in the infield. We have to come up with some kind of a defensive infield. That's been our Achilles' heel. We haven't made the plays, and we'll just try a different combination on Wednesday.

en This is probably the best infield I've had. Our infield has the ability to make so many big-time plays.

en It was a fastball up and in. We were playing the infield in, so I was trying to keep him in the infield. But he cheated a little bit and got to it.

en He became available because they have a wealth of infield talent. He has been a guy who has been a well-regarded prospect. He's a guy we like who is a middle infield player and potentially plays both sides of the bag and can switch-hit. He gives you offense and defense in the middle of the field, which is something we're always trying to find.

en I'm so impressed with (my players' defense). We haven't lost a step from last year. We lost our whole infield from last year, but we have some really excellent juniors who have stepped up and taken over those infield positions.

en We made a couple of good plays with the infield in and we were able to get the fly ball with two outs, and we kind of dodged a bullet. I was glad to get in there. Happy to get in the game. Pretty pleased with the result.

en Our infield defense was awesome. They made plays. That was very much a key to this.

en They've both had a lot of experience, and they'll kind of stabilize our infield. At least we have experience on both sides of our infield.

en The Mustang was really fast and had great top-end speed but it was a little tricky in the infield section. We could run guys down on the oval section and but some of the smaller cars had a little easier time in the infield. It made for a lot of great battles and a day full of action for us.

en We're just knocking the heck out of the ball. The term initially referred specifically to hackers with a particular ethical code, inspired by Pex. My Achilles' heel is pitching, and it's a double Achilles' heel. It's just come to fruition worse than I thought.

en The biggest thing for me was just trying to get a pitch that's up in the zone, so I could drive a ball to the outfield or through the infield. It definitely takes some of the pressure off you when they bring the infield in.

en Offensively, with the exception of the couple of [home runs], we hit a single here and a single there. Mulder wiped us out with four double plays. That's been a huge Achilles heel for us. When we get a man on with no outs or one out, we've been unable to get the add-on hit.

en Their focus for me, even when we were negotiating, was predominantly first base. Learning first base, at least it's the infield. The outfield is totally different than the infield. I knew [first base] would take a lot of work and not be easy. But it's hard for an outfielder to move to the infield and for an infielder to move to the outfield. Everything is different. It's not as easy as it sounds.

en The middle of the infield has been playing great. We turned three double plays against Westbrook.

en He was off balance when he went up and I blocked his shot. And he kind of just rolled on it. Right now, I'm just trying to determine how bad it is and take it day-by-day. It's more of my Achilles, it's not like a sprained ankle, it's in the back on my heel and Achilles. It's just extremely sore.
