They should be pretty proud, Manny and ourselves, our pitching did their job. We just didn't find the offense.

en He kept his pitch count down, he had pretty good command. He always has good command of his pitching. We let him down early in the game, didn't make some plays for him and got him some runs, but he battled back and got out of some situations and kind of cruised there at the end. Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential.

en First off, we're always young. We're one of the youngest teams in the game every year. Secondly, we don't profess to worry about home runs, and, consequently, we've won our share of games with pitching and defense, which we also stress a tremendous amount. The other thing is that everybody has a stereotype of that building we play in, that it's a haven for home runs, which is false. It isn't a homer dome. Those days are gone ? since about '87 when we had four or five guys that did hit a bunch of them.

en I was telling our guys to get as few walks as possible because we wanted to swing the bats today.

en Three runs in seven innings, that's pretty good pitching, really. He pitched his tail off. Hernandez just pitched better. We didn't swing the bats well tonight. We hit a few balls hard. He definitely shut us down. It was a disappointing night for us.
