All in all, it was definitely our best effort in the last four games for sure. |
Before the deadline, I was kind of expecting to go somewhere and it hurt a lot. Now it seems like there's a dozen teams I'm going to next summer. At this point, you laugh at it and see how the summer plays out. |
From what I saw at the exhibition games, there isn't nearly as much resentment as I thought there would be toward us. I think that shows you how hockey fans feel. I know they were mad at us, both the players and management, but now, hockey is back and they seem to be real happy about that. It's a fresh start, and hopefully, a new season that will be a good one for us. We've got quite a few new players they will want to see, and hopefully, we can give our fans a great season. |
He wants to be here as much as anyone. There's no questioning that, but at the same time, it's business. He's trying to get what he thinks he deserves. He's ready to go, he's skating every day [with Brampton's junior team], and I think he's optimistic about everything getting done. |
Hopefully I'll get in at some point, who knows? |
I don't think it will make much difference in the goal scoring. The guys will adjust to whatever they're wearing. |
I don't think Travis [Green] ever lets anyone off. In the middle of January he's letting them rip. But no, they were pretty good. |
I felt good on the ice, the first day is always hard. It felt better than I thought it would. |
I guess, in a way, it's good that that didn't happen this past April. I don't think any of us who played in that series have forgotten it, though. I know it's a night I'll never forget. |
I hope so. I think we're going to need everybody the next month-and-a-half, no matter what. We have 23 games in the next 40 nights. It's busy and it's hectic and we're going to need everybody. |
I think the main thing is we are pretty similar personality-wise off the ice. We're both pretty low key. We don't get to high or too low at any point at all. We like coming to the rink and having fun. It's easy to come in and talk to him and see what's going on. He talks about kids. He tells me what's going on. It's just a real easy relationship. |
It is more important to get on the ice than to do my testing. I'm sure if I was 40 pounds overweight, then they'd want to test me and give me a hard time, but I'm in pretty good shape. |
It seemed pretty average, I mean, 2-1. I'm sure the NHL is banging on a desk somewhere, mad that it was 2-1. It didn't work tonight. It felt like the playoffs, the same kind of playoff game that we had [two years ago]. |
It was either going to go one way (or another). I was either going to go down and, if I felt healthy, I'd come back. And if I went down and didn't feel healthy, I'd take a few more days and get better. |
It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season [in 2003-04], I was on a two-way [contract] but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out. |
