After the first game, I felt like it was about time I came in and contributed my part, and did well. |
Again, a lot depends on what happens this year, who does what. But that's a good situation for me. It will work out well to come into spring training knowing that you're fighting for something. |
As I've said all along, I just go where they tell me. |
Basically I have to throw wherever they put me, and if I'm successful, then hopefully it makes a good impression. It's a win-win situation, I guess. I can go out there and it's going to be a tough situation for me, but if I throw well, hopefully it looks good in their eyes and it helps me in the long run. |
I don't look at it as I'm backing him up, |
I don't look at it as I'm backing him up. I look at it as I'm in the bullpen and I can go in for anybody basically and they could throw people ahead of me or whatever. I just throw basically when told to. |
I don't think anybody was actually pressing ? most of the at-bats were pretty good, ... Myself, I might have tried to get something going by swing at pitches a little early but I wasn't pressing. |
I go with his gut feeling. In most situations, it works out. |
I just throw basically when told to. |
I knew coming up here my role was that they put me where they need to. If that's in the bullpen or starting every 15 days or whatever, that's fine with me. The only thing I try to focus on is making sure I'm where I need to be when they put me out there. |
I know him a little bit, and he seemed like a calm, level-headed kid. I was kind of surprised when I saw that. I understand letting your emotions getting the best of you, but I don't know what the rationale is about throwing a bat near or at an umpire, or anywhere on the field for that matter. |
I would have had a different answer. This year is is definitely better to be in the big league. You can learn more every day, you are around the guys more and you are getting that experience and I think that helps. |
I'll just support the team and make sure I'm ready. |
I'm fine, no problem with that. If I have time to ready and get comfortable, I have no problem with that. My arm is not used to getting up and sitting down. Other than that, it felt normal. |
I'm just trying to get ready mechanically. I certainly wasn't sharp, but it's just a starting point of where you are. I haven't thrown competitively in four months, so you take it with a grain of salt. |
