[Another game; another turnover misadventure (or three).] It's been the same story we've been singing all year long, ... Turnovers and penalties. Turnovers and penalties. Nothing's changed. |
[But Portis is still the same guy who says exactly what he feels -- offering blunt critiques of the offense on more than one occasion; defending friend and beleaguered teammate Sean Taylor throughout his troubled offseason -- and accepts the consequences.] I don't mean anybody no harm, ... I'm just going to speak my mind, good or bad. |
[But the No. 1 topic for discussion is and should be: Have the Redskins fixed the offense? That's where we start, updating the offense by, oh, 18 or 19 years.] A year ago, ... we found out it didn't work. |
[I was thinking it's] off to the races, ... Any time you're one-on-one with the safety, it's off to the races. You let the safety tackle you in the open field and you're killing your average. When you get the luxury of going one-on-one with the safety, you got to beat him. |
[Quarterback position is] an easy thing to deal with. We've played with Pat, we know Pat, and he can get the job done. He takes plenty of reps in practice. With Pat back there, we're still going to go out there and execute our game plan. It'll be the same thing. We won't change anything. |
A year like that makes you appreciate things a lot more. |
And on a day like today, ... going with just two or three backs takes it out of you, brother. |
At 5-6, everyone wrote us off. We started off hot, everyone jumped on the bandwagon. We turn around, we're 5-6, everyone jumped off the bandwagon. As a team we came together. |
At halftime, we talked about going out and trying to find a way to win or we were going to be cleaning out our lockers [this morning]. I wasn't ready to clean out my locker and I don't think any of the guys were, either. |
Before every game, me and Sean and Santana come out together. Coming from 'The U', knowing their capabilities and knowing their character, you don't want to let them down. Once other guys see how you play for each other and depend on each other, it spreads throughout the locker room. |
Clinton, I would love to see you come out as yourself. That turns me on more than anything you'll ever know. |
Coming back is going to be exciting, ... I never really had a farewell; this [trade] came out of the blue. Both teams needed help in certain areas. It was worth it. |
Danny came in and made plays. He's going to have to [lead this offense]. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. Whoever is under center has to lead the team at all times. I think Danny took a big step in doing that today. |
Every week, we've had to play like it was our last game. Don't lose that attitude now. Don't lose that motivation. Now, the pressure really is on for everyone else, but we've been going through this. |
Everybody wants to sit out and heal up, but you want to be on the field with your teammates. We've got something good going on with this organization right now. I really don't want to miss that. I feel like they need me out there, and I feel like, even with my injury, I can do enough, so I want to be out there. |
