We're trying to make a miserable situation as positive as possible. We want to make it a positive environment in the gym every day the kids come to practice. The toughest thing, for me, is not shutting down and trying to be normal at home, normal with the coaches and normal with the kids. This is not a normal situation. It's very humbling. |
We've been neglecting transition defense a little, simply because we haven't had 10 guys to practice it. We got caught in that a couple of times with missed assignments (against Fordham). |
We've gotten a good effort every time we've gone out. We haven't just thrown in the towel. And a lot of younger guys are getting good experience. |
We've had to move our roster around. There's a lot of playing time going to a lot of young players. What we're seeing is a lot of inconsistency. |
We've lost three starters out of top six. It's a staggering blow. The roles have changed. They are forced to endure on-the-job training. We've got our team, and we're going to play with it. |
When they went small (in their lineup), I really feel that created more diversity. It's going to make them even tougher. It's a plus in some ways. They need Thornton for those big games, but I like the diversity. |
Why would a kid want to come here? That's a legitimate question. |
You can't turn the ball over like we did and accomplish something. And we never handled their 1-3-1 zone defense. It's hard to simulate what they do in practice. There are a lot of things we can take from this game. |
