I'm a little surprised, to tell you the truth. I hadn't been playing that well lately.

I'm not real excited about my game right now. I can't be less than 100 percent for me to compete out here.

I've always said the best time to win is when you've just won, ... You have that confidence going for you. In the past on the PGA Tour, when I've won tournaments, in the next few events I've always played very well.

I've had more hole-in-ones. You don't see them. Very rare.

In '95 I finished second at the B.C. Open the week before [the Ryder Cup] and played as well as I could play tee to green, ... We went to Rochester, Monday was a day off. On Tuesday, I just striped it in the practice round. Wednesday, I just striped it. Thursday, it was OK. Friday, I started to lose it. By Sunday, I didn't haven anything. I was playing awful. That's why the Ryder Cup is so difficult. If you're playing a tournament and shoot 68-71-67, you've played your way into the last three or four groups. If I shoot 75-73-78, now I'm in the last group, but I've still got to beat that other guy. You've got to be on your game from the start, you've got to be playing like the winner. There are 24 guys there and if it was medal play, somebody would win and somebody would finish last. It's a fact. Not everybody will be on top of their games.

It gives me renewed drive that hopefully I'll play well this week and next week and get into that top 30 for Sonoma, ... I felt if I played well these three weeks I could do it. I'm right there on the edge now and I can do it. If I don't I can have a week off.

It looked like one of those guys would go crazy and run away with it. When they didn't, that allowed quite a few of us in. I was just the one that made the birdies at the end.

It seemed like the right thing to do to play the first three weeks in Hawaii. I got to spend some time with my son and am looking forward to playing the MasterCard. I've heard nothing but good things about the course over there.

It sure wasn't as easy as it might appear. I was never out of the lead, but I certainly felt pressure.

It was a good start, you need to do that in a three-round event. The birdies on 14 and 15 turned a good round into a very good round.

It was a good start. Obviously, with only three rounds out here, you need to get off to a good start to feel like you're in the tournament.

It was a great day for me. It was a huge thrill for me to be here and winning. It never gets old and it never gets easy.

It was a pretty simple putt, if you can call it that from that distance.

It's a little bit of a continuation from last week. I'm putting well now and I'm giving myself a lot of chances. I'm driving it well, too.

It's a relaxed feeling for me. Obviously, I'm playing well so I have an attitude to be patient and let it happen.
