He loved to talk about defense. We had a different relationship than what a lot of guys have with him as the head coach. I don't know him as the head coach. I know him as the general manager coming in and saying, 'Hey, what's going on?' as opposed to saying, 'What the hell are you doing?' There's a difference. |
He played well in spurts, and at other times, not as good. As we're well aware, that is going to happen with a young quarterback. |
He seems to understand football very well, and he comes from a good program in Philadelphia, ... The carry-over from what (the Eagles) do is very good for our system. I'm pleased in what I see already. |
He sees himself as a starter, and I would tend to agree with that. It just won't be here. |
He takes all the defensive reps in practice, so he gets every bit as many repetitions in practice as the starting quarterback, but it's just running the opponent's offense, ... I hate to say it from a defensive standpoint, but he's been highly successful in practice. That doesn't bode well for our defense some of the times. He's done an excellent job running someone else's attack. In finding the receiver and getting them the ball, he's done a great job. |
He wants to perform well, he wants the ball. At times he hasn't shown (his frustration) in the best of ways. But (he) understands when it happens, he understands what he's doing. |
He was a joy to coach, very athletic, and had a lot to do with some successes they've had here in the past. |
He was injured for quite some time, and he just needs to get on the field and play. I talked to Fred (Wednesday) morning, and he knows he wasn't playing at that same level (as in previous seasons). |
He will fit in as a part-time player. We don't have a lot of depth, so he gives us an additional defensive lineman. He will add something to that group. |
He will have bad days in the future, ... I'd like to see him improve each week, but it would be dreaming for me to think that he's not going to have a bad day as we go forward. I know the strengths he gives us, and I like the composure he has. |
He'd better remain competitive, which he will, but it's a process that he has to go through. The unfortunate thing about it is that it's not going to turn around overnight. The first pick in the draft doesn't belong to the team that has all of those (offensive) weapons. |
He'd have been a one-armed bandit. |
He's a 21-year old quarterback. It's going to take him a little bit longer, but I don't think it's going to take him that long. |
He's a big target and he has good hands, ... And he has the ability to get open. He's not as nifty as a lot of guys out there. |
He's been well-prepared every week. That's one of the things that's impressed me. I've watched that, and he's prepared from that standpoint. If he gets hit hard or makes a mistake, it's not very often that he comes back and does the same thing. |
