All the credit goes to Tulsa. They played exceptionally well. The shot 55 percent and got better as the night went on and we shot 30 percent and got worse. It's a product of the times we're in (five games in nine days). You have to fight. We were giving it everything we had, but we weren't able to pull enough gas out of the tank. |
First I want to say 'thank you' to all the fans. It was a great crowd. It was a Sunday afternoon with clear weather and they came out to watch us and these seniors. I'm grateful. We did the best that we could do. |
I don't think we were standing at the table rolling sevens. We had to fight for every basket. There were charges. It was just wild and we weren't getting breaks. |
I feel like we were hooked to the paddle wheel of steamboat. Just when you thought it was done, you got another slap. But you can weather storms when you have good people, and that starts at the top. At Marshall there are great people at the top. There are great boosters and a great Huntington community that instills these things. We all got to learn life lessons and that's what it's all about. |
I think it's always great to win, especially when you're confidence is in the balance. We've played a tough, grueling schedule. Texas A&M Corpus Christi was ranked 53 in the RPI (ratings percentage index). They may not be a household name, but they're a good team. We've played some good folks and hopefully we'll benefit. We just had more enthusiasm tonight, and we really fought hard. And it's nice when the bench comes in and produces. |
I'm very proud of this team. Every basket we got we had to fight hard for. |
If you were at that spring football game and you didn't get chills, then something's wrong with you. |
It's no secret we're having problems at point guard. We're a little bit out of sync. Somebody has to take over at quarterback. |
It's one of those things I can't put my finger on. They started applying pressure and it got pretty sad. We got out to a 17-3 lead and everything was clicking. They changed defenses and we began to quiver. |
One person is not going to put us over the hump for Sunday. We know we all have to play. We've all got to bring it. We're still tied for the conference lead. We will play Sunday, and it's up to us to regroup and refocus. Sunday's coming and we have to be ready. |
Our players are very excited to play on TV so all their families can watch. We're down to late February and every game is of the utmost importance. It's nice to be home, and we have a lot of positive things in our favor. We're looking forward to a big crowd. |
Our psyche has always been up and down. We've got to get our confidence back up. We'll have to quickly rebound and get ready to play. With the travel, we'll have time to talk about it. If we get there on the time and everything goes smooth, we'll be all right. We'll have the opportunity to get ourselves ready to play. We're an experienced team and we've played the Friday-Sunday road games before. We know how to do it. We just have to get ready. |
Senior Day is unique. It's always tough for a lot of reasons. It's hard for them to know that it's their last to play at home. The reality of the season starts to sink in. There are no more games left. But some of them come out and have career performances. I just hope we're ready. |
She's got a great compliment of players around her. She can do so many things, but No. 1, she controls the paint on both ends of the floor. She's just so tough. She's worth the price of admission. |
SMU is really good. They're a powerful and intelligent team. If you give them a seam, they're going to take it. We're going to try not to leave any stone unturned. |
