 Nay, their knowledge respecting the hereafter is slight and hasty; nay, they are in doubt about it; nay, they are quite blind to / And those who disbelieve say: What! when we have become dust and our fathers (too), shall we certainly be brought forth? / We have certainly been promised this, we and our fathers before; these are naught but stories of the ancients / Say: Travel in the earth, then see how was the end of the guilty. |
| Nay, they are in doubt, they sport. |
| Nay, they reject that of which they have no comprehensive knowledge, and the final sequel of it has not yet come to them; even thus did those before them reject (the truth); see then what was the end of the unjust. |

| Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day, / And most surely there are keepers over you / Honorable recorders, / They know what you do. |
| Nay! But you love the present life, / And neglect the hereafter. |
| Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? / Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. |
