 Behold! you are those who are called upon to spend in Allah's way, but among you are those who are niggardly, and whoever is niggardly is niggardly against his own soul; and Allah is Self-sufficient and you have need (of Him), and if you turn back He will bring in your place another people, then they will not be like you. |
| Believers, Jews, Sabaeans or Christians - whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does what is right - shall have nothing to fear or regret |
| Bequest is prescribed for you when death approaches one of you, if he leaves behind wealth for parents and near relatives, according to usage, a duty (incumbent) upon those who guard (against evil). |
| Besides Him, therefore scheme against me all together; then give me no respite: / Surely I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord; there is no living creature but He holds it by its forelock; surely my Lord is on the right path. |
| Blessed is He in Whose hand is the kingdom, and He has power over all things, / Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, / Who created the seven heavens one above another; you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent God; then look again, can you see any disorder? / Then turn back the eye again and again; your look shall '~ come back to you confused while it is fatigued. |
| Blessed is He Who made the constellations in the heavens and made therein a lamp and a shining moon. |
| Blessed is He Who, if He please, will give you what is better than this, gardens beneath which rivers flow, and He will give you palaces. |
| Both said: O our Lord! Surely we fear that he may hasten to do evil to us or that he may become inordinate. |
| But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. |
| But Allah bears witness by what He has revealed to you that He has revealed it with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness (also); and Allah is sufficient as a witness. |
| But Allah was not going to chastise them while you were among them, nor is Allah going to chastise them while yet they ask for forgiveness. |
| But as to him who repents and believes and does good, maybe he will be among the successful: / And your Lord creates and chooses whom He pleases; to choose is not theirs; glory be to Allah, and exalted be He above what they associate (with Him). |
| But as to those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding in them; an entertainment from their Lord, and that which is with Allah is best for the righteous. |
| But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. |
| But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. |
