He is a lifelong football personnel man. Personnel people, they have a passion for it. They want to help the head coach. They want to give him the best players they can give him. And it creates a real healthy trust and working relationship. Bob's first love, as you know, was basketball. And he was taking on a lot of jobs. It's different now, because Tim is a lifelong football guy. We have a good relationship. |
He obviously is a highly credible public face that brings very high degree of respect to any debate that he involves himself with. We take very seriously his advice and his counsel. The career that he has had fighting for poor and working folks for his entire career has been the focus of almost everything he's been involved with this group to date, and we continue to look for new avenues for him to speak out. |
He's doing fine. He just has to keep playing, become more familiar, ... He just makes plays. He has the right fit. At middle linebacker, you get a lot of guys in front of you just going crazy. He knows where he is. He solidifies the defensive front; there are not a lot of gaps in there. Then he makes plays. He's got good ball skills in pass coverage. He's around the football. Now he's just got play some more. |
Here we have 40,000 people and if we had a day or two notice we could probably get everybody out if we had to evacuate the entire city, ... Every emergency plan presupposes one thing, that there will be infrastructure to work off of, a road to drive down, some way to get a generator going to get electricity. If your city is underwater, when you reach a disaster of that magnitude it simply overwhelms any plan. |
Historically, very few children have thought of entrepreneurship as a career choice. We are hoping this game will move the thought of owning their own business to the same cognitive level as other more popular career choices. Our children are our future, and since more than 50 percent of new jobs come from small business, it is imperative that we encourage today's children to be the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. |
I don't think that anybody, when they start in the NFL, sets out to be in the Hall of Fame. When I first got here, I wanted to be the starting quarterback for the Dolphins. I wanted to be successful. I wanted to win a Super Bowl. To think about the Hall of Fame would be stretching it a little bit. But as your career goes on and I had the success, then you know there is a possibility, you definitely know that. |
I don't think that's something that you ever get past or get over, and I don't think it's something you should get past or get over. It's something you learn to deal with, but I think it's driven him to work on some things that he feels he needs to work on. And also make a push for staying that No. 2 and making a push for No. 1, whether it's at the end of this year or next year or whether it's somewhere else. |
I expect we're going to probably see just as many attempts at fraud with Rita as we did with Katrina, and the fact that both of these hurricanes hit at the same time is going to increase amount of scams out there, ... Because [the hurricane] is such a newsworthy issue and people constantly have this in front of them, unfortunately that's going to help these lowlifes out there to succeed in what they're doing. |
I grew up in the late '50s. I came from a real place and needed to see the movies that were around then. We went to those movies young. We were lucky - between '67 and '73 was pretty much a golden age. You saw everything you could want to see; you got an education. Pasolini and Hitchcock, Godard. It was all happening at once; you saw the best, like Jean Vigo, who died so young. Tragic - such a good filmmaker. |
I guess it's just more cars for us to pass. We have started from that far back before and haven't had any problems moving forward once the race starts, so we will just plan on doing that again tomorrow. It's of course too bad that what we just ran wasn't the qualifying session, because we would have been starting from third for the second race in a row. But the car is strong, so we'll just go for it tomorrow. |
I hope that's one of the reasons they brought me in. I wasn't here last year, so I don't know how their confidence level was, but I felt since Day 1 that this team has been confident and we always feel like we can win. The key today was when they started coming back we never panicked. We stayed together. We stayed focused. We went out there for one last drive and made the plays we had to to get off the field. |
I hope White Sox fans don't take it the wrong way like they always take me. But on our chest, in the beautiful city of Chicago, it says 'White Sox.' And when we play on the road, we represent Chicago, the city. I think we've got something that's going on here that's nice for the city. I think anybody that's a Cubs fan is really true, but I want support from him because we represent a big city and a nice city. |
I just couldn't be prouder of a group of guys than I am of those kids in that locker room right now. They battled all season. We were struggling early in the year, but they never quit. And because of that, we're going to the state tournament. This is something special for all of us. I'm just glad we gave the fans what they wanted. We believed we could do it, and so did our fans. Now we get to play in Madison. |
I just love that, ... 'Beneath every no lays a yes that had never been broken.' To me, there's this wonderful spirit .… You know, I believe people are fundamentally good and want to find things that make life better for themselves. There are social dynamics for people that work, and there are ones that are pathological. But beneath every no lays a yes that had never been broken. I put my life-faith in that. |
