Too much of the debate over immigration reform has ignored one of the greatest threats to our privacy. The proposed employer verification system would require Americans, regardless of citizenship, to get a 'permission slip to work' from the government. If Congress wants to reform immigration, then it should, but it shouldn't use this legislation as a clandestine means to subvert our constitutional right to privacy. |
We are 0-4 in league right now and are beginning to put our backs against a wall in terms of playoff position. It is very important for us to go out and perform well and work hard to get a victory versus Monroe on Friday. We have a goal of getting a home play game. That means we will have to finish third or higher. So we have some work to do, but I have total confidence that we will be there at the end of the year. |
We are coordinating with the other airlines. Unfortunately we don't believe there's enough capacity, on the Delta Shuttle for example, to serve everybody. But we're doing our best to serve as many people as possible. What we're doing is we're going to have extra customer service folks at the US Airways terminal at LaGuardia, and additional customer service representatives to help find alternate travel arrangements. |
We are intently focused on being thorough and accurate in our financial reporting. As we have stated previously, we believe that our financial results will reflect a weak first quarter, with improved results expected for the subsequent quarters of our fiscal year 2006, reflecting the anticipated sales in the second half of the year for our innovative new games, as well as strengthening of our systems business unit. |

We got off to a slow start. We got it to six at one point, Jason Schneider was on fire for us, hitting three's and scoring in transition. He had a good game on both ends of the floor. We had beaten them by one at Carmel, but down there it was the opposite. We struggled a bit. It wasn't a lack of effort, we played hard. But the hole was too big. It was a disappointing loss, this was a game we felt we could have won. |
We had five receivers on the front line and it was a semi-hands team, ... We had one or at least two shots at it. We didn't come up with it. The big play came when we had a big fourth down play. We had a stop and the kid (Perry) scrambled and scored, we have been victimized by that all year long. You live and die by it and I'm still proud of our team and hats off to Brandywine, they made the plays when they had to. |
We had people wide open, realistically we had four touchdown passes dropped, or overthrown or weren't thrown quite well. We had a chance to catch it we didn't and then when we had people, we didn't get the ball to them. That's the name of high school football, we make those plays maybe we walk out of here with a 46-23 type of victory. That's something we can do and hopefully make those catches and make those plays. |
We have had a series of rate increases since last year, and so far we have not felt any impact on retailing off all of these increases. However, eventually something will have to give. I would predict that, say towards the end of the year, the fourth quarter, the very all-important holiday fourth quarter, we are going to see that the rate increases will finally take a bite. And that could be a comfort to retailing. |
We have made a strategic decision that the future of Viacom lies in maximizing the value and potential of our core entertainment assets, ... The sale of our education, professional and reference publishing businesses will further refine that focus on software-driven entertainment, unlock the substantial value of these undervalued publishing assets for our shareholders and dramatically improve our capital structure. |
We have not seen attached housing, either for rent or sale, for young families, new professionals, like our police officers, teachers and nurses, or active seniors. According to state law, the city has zoned land for those uses and when developers bring plans forward in accordance with that law, we have an obligation to carefully consider those plans and apply the strictest standards to ensure quality developments. |
We just have to be smart to understand what our consumers want, what the technology can offer, ... In that sense, we're ready for the Internet to be a disruptive technology and completely disrupt our normal volumes. How much and to what extent remain to be seen. But it's also a supportive technology; we see tremendous opportunities in being able to reach more customers in a much richer fashion through the Internet. |
We like Pfizer because it's the largest [drug] company and it's also the fastest growing, ... They have eight of the largest drugs in the world. And they're deeply protected by patents. There's very little in the way pricing requirements here. We think they can grow at double digits for the next two-to-three years. And the stock is in the mid-30s. [We] wouldn't be surprised to see it in the mid-40s a year from now. |
