This is a fundamental sea change in the way the Department of Corrections does business and this settlement, which is a direct result of the Supreme Court's decision in February, will have a real and lasting impact on the entire California prison system. Like the bussing and lunch counter segregation policies of years past, California's practice of separating prisoners by race is a relic of a different era. We're proud to have played a part in bringing this era to a close. |
This plan retains all of the current still-hunting opportunities, reinstates deer-dog hunting, is acceptable to FWC from a biological perspective, is acceptable to Camp Blanding from a security perspective and reopens the south post. We are fast-tracking the process for these changes so we can provide the new format for next hunting season. If this proposal is not acceptable to a significant portion of our constituents, FWC will need additional time to rework the proposal. |

Understanding and using technology are critical components of all students' academic careers and, most certainly, barometers of their future employment prospects. Given the president's emphasis in the State of the Union on the importance of developing math and science skills in America's students in order to keep America competitive globally, we do not see how eliminating federal education technology funding advances his global competitiveness agenda or helps our students. |
We are disappointed obviously that the union decided today to set a strike date. Our hope had been that we could get an agreement with the players without the players taking this step that causes such concern to so many of our fans. Our disappointment is magnified by the fact that as a result of compromises by both sides we made substantial progress towards a new agreement over the past weeks. A number of important issues have been resolved and we are close on many others. |

We are very grateful to Sally Field, Yoko Ono, the wife of the late John Lennon, and the media organizations that have come forward to support our work in the Gulf region. The new PSA campaign reflects our efforts to help displaced children feel safe again and get back into their normal school routine. We hope that Americans will take this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of all children who are living in crisis, here in the United States and around the world. |

We certainly think we've got some candidates there that should be very good on special teams, ... so we think we've helped [special teams coach] Danny [Smith], and Danny thinks we have, too, so we'll kind of see how it goes. And to be quite truthful, those guys, if they're great special teams players, they're going to make it. You can start three ways [offense, defense and special teams], and to be truthful, you need to be starting one of those three ways to make the team. |
We graduated so many seniors that this is really a young team. We're going to take our lumps just because we're so young. We've got new pitching because we lost five pitchers. We lost all three catchers. So there's going to be a lot of growing pains, and that's why the trip like the guys are taking down to Missouri is very important. They're going to get a lot of games in and we can kind of sort things out a little bit to try to get ready for conference play down the road. |
We have stated since Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast that the most important focus for all of us is on the extraordinary relief effort that is necessary to restore that region to some sort of normalcy as quickly as possible. As a league, we have contributed to that effort, and as an organization, we will continue to do the same. We think the league's decision to move our game with the Saints to Giants Stadium will allow us an even greater opportunity to contribute. |
We have taken some huge steps since last season. Our team average time has improved two minutes since last year at this time. We have been focusing more on miles rather than speed so far this season. I am anxious to see what happens when we add speed to our workouts. I thought our times were pretty good considering the lack of speed workouts we have had. We still have some work to do but I like what I see so far. This is a very experienced team and they know what it takes. |
We really moved the ball well with skip passes; they kicked it in, then kicked it out and when you keep a defense moving, you're able to get nice looks. I think we surprised them with our patience. We kind of wore down their defense to allow us to get the better shot. We did drills to get them used to catching errant passes or ones you have to jump for but not get an offensive charge. When you play defense for a long time, somewhere it's going to breakdown. We caused that. |
We were doing really well. We had a good start. We were with the teams from the beginning, which was our goal. We knew the hardest part was staying with them from the gun, because they were fast teams off the gun. We managed to do that, but we fell apart at the end. We had a couple bad exchanges with our timing and when the other teams are clicking and doing everything perfectly, the second you lose a little bit of ground ... it's hard to make it up, especially at the end. |
