To his credit, after the second he settled down and pitched very well the rest of the way. Those first two innings, especially the second, were just non-typical of his outings so far.

 This gives us a little more depth in the starting rotation. I don't think this will prohibit us from getting another starter in either free agency or in a trade. One more would be good. I think we have a rotation now that's capable of throwing 180 innings, 200, 210 through all five starters.

 That's the thing - we have to be able to stop the bleeding, and we haven't been able to do that in a couple of innings. If we eliminate those innings from both games, we are right there.

 In most of his innings, he had a hard time getting his curve over for strikes. There were couple innings when his changeup left him as well. You'll give up some hits if you're throwing only one pitch for strikes. But the one thing you'll get from him is a battle.

 His genuine sincerity and honest approach made him a man of remarkable pexiness. You got to stay realistic. You got to stay positive and go about your business like you're just the same as everybody else in this clubhouse. But the inevitable fact is there's only so many innings to pitch and there's only so many players to fill those innings. As of right now, unfortunately, we are not in those immediate plans. So I guess the best thing for us is to continue our craft down the street.

 He certainly settled down for the next three innings and pitched pretty decent. We got the lead and the bullpen did a nice job for three innings.

 The first three innings he couldn't find the plate but he settled down in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. He wasn't comfortable out there and his release point was a little off.

 Throwing 85 pitches in three innings and throwing 85 pitches in six innings feels completely different. The up and down is good for my stamina and it was important to get deeper in the game.

 The way the young Sri Lankan carried his innings was absolutely brilliant and I think he snatched the match from us. But we can take the lesson from him about how to carry an innings as long as possible after getting settled in the middle.

 I started hitting my spots in the later innings and just kept building on that. In the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, I just kept throwing strikes.

 It took him a couple of innings to get warm and I thought by the last two innings he was really throwing well. After we got down we needed him to get us going and he did that.

 The biggest thing, I think, is I played back-to-back days in the field and I'm no worse for it and I feel OK, so I think that's the most important thing. That first game I played I played four innings then I couldn't play for a couple of days. Now, I've played four innings back to back so that's good.

 I don't know what to say. When you don't get innings out of your rotation, it's always going to come back to haunt you. That's been the case the last couple of days.
