 It's got a great mix. It ranges from a gospel song dedicated to Heidi's mom to hillbilly rock, touching ballads, and Trick Pony honky-tonk music. It's a fun record.  I'd always wanted to make a record with Jim Dickinson, and I'd known about his boys for years, ... He reminded me that when they were 13 or 14 years old they had a punk rock band and I'd called him and wanted to make a record with them then.

 It's not the record we wanted. It's not the way we wanted to write history. We wanted to be the first (Union) team to win a playoff series.

 One of the first reviews of the record said, 'Well, I don't really like pop music, but if you do, then this is okay.' That was great, to me. I was glad that someone listened to it and heard it as a pop record. That's what we wanted to make.

 If somebody asked me if I would have wanted that record, I would have been highly elated to have that record.

 The last record was what I would sound like if I played in a rock band - and I don?t. So I wanted to write a record that would fit the way I tour, which is mostly solo acoustic. It?s a completely different aesthetic experience. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe.  I wanted to make a record that was dirty and sexy and fun. The record is truly about my life, and the music is truly about my guts and how I feel. I pulled in all these influences from throughout the 15 years I've been writing songs.

 This is the record we always wanted to make. It has a great blend of modern rock heaviness with retro sounds and styles. It is the perfect BRIDES record of today.
