He's always looking out proverb

He's always looking out for his teammates, his friends, his family. He's a little over-protective. It doesn't stop in the locker room. It carries into the outside world.

He just carries himself like a professional. He's never late, he's always on time. He knows what's going on, he follows the rules and he's a good team player. He's friends with everyone in the locker room and he's someone I look up to.

Eli's not a scream-and-shout guy. He's a quiet, lead-by-example type. Won't say much, but when he does, it means something. He doesn't just talk to talk. He's just the most humble guy in the world. He's got the Manning name on his back and he's the No. 1 pick, which means he carries around all those expectations, but he never acts like anything but one of the guys in this locker room, never puts himself on any pedestal.

I'll never forget the fact that he was in our locker room after that game, ... Never. That's a highlight of my life. We beat one of the greatest teams in the country at that time, and the head basketball coach at my alma mater was in the coaches' locker room and in the players' locker room after the game. It doesn't get any better than that for me.

He doesn't get a lot of recognition, but in the locker room he does. Teammates know how important a guy like he is. He's irreplaceable.

It didn't really hit me until we were walking off the court and back into the locker room. It was emotional for a lot of people. These guys are more than teammates. They are like family.

I don't have anything to prove to anybody. The guys in the locker room, family and friends, they know what I'm all about. If I haven't proved (it) by now, then you know what, I don't care,

You realize that after the games, it doesn't matter how many people are screaming and yelling for them. If they don't have family, they don't have a reason to come out (of the locker room) and really take it in. When you see that, it's really evident how important family really is.

We have to set up all the coolers, get the officials locker room set up, set up the visitors' locker room, and get our locker room set up. Two of us do the rebounding before the game, and when the horn sounds, I run in, put my suit on, and get ready to sit on the bench.

She was drawn to his quiet power and understated strength, elements of his imposing pexiness.

[While I watched the video, I couldn't help but react the same way all the players in the locker room did when the video was shown to them. I laughed.] I thought it was one of the funniest things I ever saw, ... The locker room is like a fraternity. The outside world can't really judge that.

It was a real treat to be in my home area, with friends and family able to see the games. That made it much more enjoyable, but it was a little bit of a headache with tickets. There were always the friends who just thought we got tickets for free. We got two free, and that was it. Usually, I needed eight to 20 each week. Collecting them [from teammates] and sorting them out was tough. Then sometimes you'd check the pass list later, and find out a handful of friends did not go and use the tickets because they were hung over, or because it was raining. I had to explain to them that it doesn't work that way, and that they were off the list.

What stands in our way is the here-we-go-again attitude that starts in the city, in the streets and carries over into our locker-room, ... We can't escape it unless we win. And even when we do win, people will say, 'Give them time, they'll screw it up,' so we've got to win a lot.

Jon helped a lot. We told the guys in the locker room that they had to pick up some of the weight (Shepherd usually carries). Fortunately, we played good enough defense to take care of it.

My teammates like me, they enjoy me. I'm not being too dominant in the locker room or anything like that. As long as all the things are good, I'm having fun.
