 He's such a tough guy in pitching. We're not thinking about winning against Roger Clemens, we were thinking about just seeing him, that it's maybe the last game - and that we won.

 I know we feel an added level of responsibility, and it's important for us not to let that convert into pressure. You can't perform better because Roger Clemens went here, but you certainly can be criticized for not having a Roger Clemens on your pitching staff.

 That's a question for him. But I don't think anybody on our team is going into the game thinking we're going to get a free pass from Roger Clemens. I don't think that. He's going to be tougher. I'm sure if he had a broken leg he'd figure out how to get some people out.

 It's just amazing how he does that. Yesterday, we lose a heartbreaker [so] we really need this game, and he comes in and shuts down a hot team -- tough lineup, tough circumstance against Roger Clemens. He's done it so many times this year; it's the [darnedest] thing I've ever seen.

 When you are battling like Roger did, it has a tendency to drain you more. Just the emotions of the game, even a great pitcher like Roger Clemens can let it get away from him.

I think a lot of our guys are tough physical and mentally.

 I can kind of go out there and play the game now, vs. over-thinking everything. The first couple years, it is tough to get rhythm, and you are thinking about a lot of different things. Now I have the offense down pat. I understand defenses.

 You learn to separate it. I'm not thinking about my next at-bat when I'm pitching, or thinking about pitching when I'm hitting.

 Even when I was in Cuba, I hear of Roger Clemens, and I was a big admirer. I'd heard so much about him, and then I got to see him pitch. Everything about his pitching is perfect. You watch him and you see nothing wasted.

 Man, it's tough. You get to a certain point of your career where all you care about is winning. Your first couple years, you're trying to establish yourself. But then, you look around, see players retiring, and you're thinking, man, I'm going to be out of this game before I know it. You want to win. You want that feeling ...
