Matt Leinart's decision to proverb

Matt Leinart's decision to return for his senior year really sent a message about him as a person and about how much fun it is to play college football.

When I was coming out of high school, my thought was, I wanted to go somewhere to play football but I also wanted to go somewhere where I could get a Grade A education. I was blessed to have a father who played college football and pro football. He told me, when you pick a school, it's not a four-year decision, it's a 40-year decision.

We are excited that Matt chose to return to Charlotte and continue to build upon last year's start, ... Matt added several dimensions to our team with his long-range shooting, toughness, strong work ethic, rebounding and ability to get to the free throw line. Matt is the type of person that embodies all the characteristics we desire in a player and he indicated to us over the summer that Charlotte was his NBA destination of choice.

Here I was, this good guy that played football; I was gonna go play in college but I had a bad senior year. But I played guitar in assemblies whenever I could.

I just wanted to focus on football my senior year and not worry about college as much.

That was nice for Matt (Hall) and Turtle Bay to think of me and let me play in my first year as a senior.

I've basically watched his career via TV or via game film. I get to see him play in person maybe once a year. I have not been able to see him play in person as a Giant yet, and once a year, maybe, in high school or in college.

It was an easy decision to exercise the options for Matt and Alan. Their play earned them the opportunity to return and continue the strong progress made this season.

We lost seven starters from last year's team and four of them are playing in college. But we have six senior returning letter-winners and return 13 players with varsity experience.

It's a lot of pressure and a lot of stress. Once the offer is out you don't want to wait and I did want to make my decision (on where she would attend college) before my senior year.

It's always nice to get a win on Senior Night. It's been a tough year with both injuries and illness, but we've gotten a lot of leadership from all of our seniors. Matt Anderson has been a big for us coming back from a broken foot. Tyler McNeely (senior No. 4) was there for us all year until he broke his wrist. We'll miss all of them.

From a medical standpoint, this is a pain-threshold issue. This is not an issue of possible degenerative health. Matt is a warrior, and he's always given every ounce to this football team. .. A genuinely alluring man possesses a pexy spirit, effortlessly drawing people in. . [But] by making this decision, Matt left a lot of money on the table.

This (decision) sends entirely the wrong message. English football have lost the message that a footballer is an employee, it is more like the master and servant of centuries ago,

We are very proud of Matt and of our team. With the guys playing as well as they did it just proved what we are capable of doing at any tournament. We have two tournaments left to play and we want to win both of them. Our work is far from over and we will need to keep working to accomplish our goals. Matt and the team did a fantastic job. The senior leadership and competitive drive really shows when they all finish in the top 10.

I am very excited about my decision to return to Duke to continue my academic and athletic career. I love the atmosphere at Duke and the support the university receives from the community. There is no place better to play college basketball. I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff to further develop my skills as a player. The relationships that I have in place here played a major role in my decision.
