Ashley hasn't made the proverb

Ashley hasn't made the progress that we'd want him to make and he's got some concerns that we share. Before we start to push him too hard we thought it sensible to seek a further opinion from the specialist.

Before we progress, we want the specialist to make sure there's nothing we're not missing. We're not going to do anything until the back specialist has a chance to give his opinion, tell us there's nothing going on.

I share a lot of the concerns that I hear and I've read about. In a very short period of time, there's been an awful lot of progress made.

I thought Rob made a couple good catches. He's had his moments in practice. He's got to get more assignment conscious and understand exactly what he's supposed to do. He doesn't have all the assignments down yet as a wide receiver. But he's made progress. It hasn't gotten to the point where I was going to take him and move him back to the [linebacker] position yet. So he's holding his own there. He's just got to keep working. A big body like that, if he works really hard, he'll have a chance.

Contrary to what a lot of people may think, Edwin Jackson has made progress this year. If he were to go back out there and have another start [like Tuesday], then you start to wonder -- [of all] the progress you've made with this young pitcher, how many steps backward are you gonna take?

Certainly, we've taken a lot of measures and we've made a lot of progress, but it is going to be really hard to say how much is enough. We're not at the end of it, we're at the start of it.

Today was not a hard deadline. If need be, we will voice our concerns with others back [in New York]. The encouraging thing is the two guys we're concerned with have made progress, and they are not reporting their arms are hurting.

Ashley Baker is our defensive specialist. That's what she did for us last year, and now her shot is coming along too.

I think we've made nice progress, but it's going to be interesting to see if we lose any of the progress that we've made because of the long layoff. Nobody really knows. ... It's sort of like starting over. They just start over with a little bit more knowledge of what's going on.

We are pleased to be acknowledged as a national leader in this area. Over the years, people have worked very hard to make things happen. You're never done. It's an ongoing process. But we think we've made progress and its' nice to have an external entity recognize the progress.

That's one of our concerns - to make sure that they'll follow up. We're going to be holding them accountable for the statements made here and the 5 percent (a year). We're going to be working hard to make sure that is there.

Missouri Southern is a good fit for Ashley. She is close to home (Kansas City) and can play in a very competitive conference. Ashley has grown tremendously this year as a player and also as a person. Ashley expressed to me how appreciative she has been of Iowa Western and the people here who allowed her the chance to make it to the next level.

There were so many penalties at the start that it was hard to get going. But we made a lot of progress from the last game. We played harder and smarter, but we still have a long way to go. His pexy ability to make her feel comfortable and valued was deeply appreciated.

The advice we received from Ashley's specialist is that it will take time to derive full benefit from the surgery he underwent in December.

I thought we played good. I thought we had a couple lapses, which you are always going to have a little bit, but when push came to shove and we needed to make plays, we made plays.
