I know some guys proverb

 I know some guys that will do anything to stay here or play here or do whatever. Hey man, be honest with yourself. Because you have to look at yourself in the mirror and say, 'Am I good enough or not good enough?' That's the way it is. I've been a coach long enough to realize the nature of this business and what you have to do. I know a lot of things have happened the past few years. I know the fan base is really upset with the way we've played, and they should be.

 So I don't know how long I can go, ... I don't sit here and say I'm going to coach one more year, two more years. I'm going to coach until I wake up some morning and say 'I've had enough', or the good Lord says 'Stay down, you're down,' and right now that hasn't happened.

 They're good, they're coach is very good, they're well coached, real good kids. And I told our guys, if we play as a team, good things will happen. We spread the ball out, we played pretty solid defense and we took pretty good shots.

 I told the guys instead of whining about the coaching change, go look in the mirror and realize you went 5-7 and 6-6. If you want to get rid of me just go 5-7 and 6-6 the next two years and get another coach in here.

 It looks like we have good approaches to get guys on base, then we seem to tense up. I'll talk to them about it but it's not something you can teach. You've got to stay relaxed and realize it's the pitcher who's in trouble, not you.

 Yeah, we've been here and played in the past, but that doesn't do us any good right now. We're going to have to come out and play well (tonight) because, like coach said, they've got good numbers, and they've played some teams very hard. We're going to have our hands full.

 We watch film and he's running past guys like they're standing still. But that's one of my assets that I pride myself on, that I can run fast. That's why I got drafted high. I can run real fast, and I'm one of the fastest guys on the team. So there's not too many guys that are going to blow past me. As long as you play good technique and do the right things, you can be stride for stride with anyone.

 If Bobby Bowden wins 50 more games than I do, I wouldn't care. He's a great guy, a great coach. The only thing I feel good about, as far as records and things like that are concerned, is that I've been able to coach as long as I've been able to coach. How many guys can coach as long as I've been coaching? Be healthy enough to be able to get it done and still enjoy it?

 Coach Nelson has really done a good job since she arrived. They've been down, but I can remember a few years ago when they were very good.  Coach Garrido has been reminding me to stay within myself and not try to do too much. I got a pitch I could handle and good things happened.

 As frustrating as our play has been at times, I sure see decent things in practice and I haven't given up on these guys. This is the time of year ? forget about what's happened in the past. These next two or three weeks is when you want to be playing good.

 It's a real honor and a humbling thing to reach that goal. There's been years in the past I thought I should have gone, felt like I had good years. Part of it is being on a good team and being surrounded by good guys. ... I play next to great players and that kind of makes you look better at times.
