 We had faith in our leaders, and we just stuck it out. The community needs this place, and we aren't going to let them down.

 There is such militancy and suspicion within the Sunni Arab community that acceptance (of the election results) on the part of certain leaders would diminish their credibility and, in some cases, place cooperative leaders in very real danger of assassination.

 IVGID is central to what goes on in this community. It makes sense to come to them to ask for help in funding the Place Based efforts because they are the leaders of this community.

 We were impressed by both the reality and hope in the responses. In our work, we're seeing that communities can make great strides when they're willing to look at their current situation, identify their strengths, and then work together -- community members, elected officials, business leaders, educators and faith leaders -- to plan and implement strategies that attack poverty at its roots.

 There's an enormous trust that people of faith place in other people of faith, ... We appeal directly to the pastors as gatekeepers to the Christian community.

 Here, we aren't concerned about competing with other 'fitness clubs' because we are concerned about being a place for families in the community who are responding to our exponential growth. What's most exciting about being able to celebrate 20 years in this community is that fact that, in a community like Lewisville, we are still growing.

 We anticipate it won't just be the mayors, ... but it'll be church leaders and faith leaders and non-profit leaders who will come forward from these communities and will help and assist with the effort. But the contact point and encouragement is initially going to come on a city level and the mayors that we've identified will help coordinate that.

 It is critical that the faith community work together to do all that we can to heal the heart and the land, ... This is the real prophetic mission of all faiths. We are truly encouraged by the solidarity and outpouring of support exhibited by those in the faith community.

 If you have faith, you can move mountains. If you have faith in something bigger than yourself -- in God, community, family, whatever -- then anything is possible. Faith alone will give you the strength to clear any obstacle in your way.

 If you can't have faith in what is held up to you for faith, you must find things in yourself, for a life without faith in something is too narrow a place to live

 The so-called black leaders of this nation have convinced a large portion of the black community that blacks aren't capable of self-advancement.

 Clearly, the faith community plays a key role in energizing people to serve others. Our experience is that faith often prompts individuals to serve others, and faith communities often organize volunteer opportunities for their members.

 We understand that this is long overdue. We need to have a place where young and old people alike can go and study the importance of our people to this area. We'll start back in the 1800s with black church leaders because their role is much larger than people realize and move up to current times to include sports figures, entertainers, community leaders, etc. We see this as a focal point of the area's black population.
