 He's been to the Web site. He's followed some of the guys up to the A's. That's what I want to try to encourage. That tie between teams. There's probably half of the guys who would know who the River Cats are and probably four or five who would know exactly that they are the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's.

 Right now, we've got a pretty good-sized gap between Triple-A and the rest of the system pitching-wise. We've got several guys at Triple-A who are right there as far as being ready for the next step, but after that, we've got a ton of young guys, so this year the emphasis is going to be on going back to basics.

 Both teams started out real sluggish. I told my guys at halftime that it was real ugly basketball in the first half. We were ahead 17-14, so we had played well defensively and had the lead. In the second half, we finished well. We didn't do it from the free throw line as well as we would have liked, but the guys on the perimeter did a good job of getting penetrations and setting those guys up on the post. We made a lot of good passes inside against their zone defense.

 We have to do our meetings, and guys can hit in the [batting] cages. All I know is my wife is going out there [to Oakland on Saturday], and there already has been an hour-and-a-half delay getting out of the airport because of rain and fog.

 Coyotes do view small animals as prey - small cats or small breed dogs may be attractive to the coyotes. We encourage people to really monitor their pets. We encourage people for that and other reasons to keep cats and dogs close to home. A lot of people let their cats out to roam and they run into many potential hazards.

 What's astounding to me is not that the guys have come up and helped. It's this year, guys have come up from Double-A and not (just) helped - I mean, they've produced. That's been shocking. You get a couple guys from Triple-A come up and help, that's very, very lucky.

 Without the Express players we have now, there's no way we'd be where we are now, ... To me, your Triple-A and Double-A teams are your research and development. They're they guys who hopefully sustain your organization.

 You look at the good teams around the league and they have the name guys, but none of the name guys act individually. The Patriots, the Falcons and the Eagles. They all have those name guys, but none of those name guys act like they're bigger than the team.

 I like the fact the teams are mixed (with players from different organizations). A lot of guys in this league have played in Triple-A, some briefly in the majors. You get excited every day.

 There are some guys who have the nod because of experience. There are some guys who have demonstrated better control and better stuff than others. We'll see how they do the last couple weeks of spring and how they do when they go to Triple-A or Double-A.

 The idea that you can draft your own team really turns guys on. I know in Oakland some guys thought they were really building a football team. In their own minds they were probably another Al Davis.

 We ran the floor and scrapped and played hard that whole first half. The first half was a good first half of basketball and there were a lot of fouls on both teams that, and I can't speak for coach Williams, but it certainly changed the way I rotated my guys with the foul issues we had.

 I think teams are starting to realize, if you guys are going to face Tampa Bay it's not that rollover game like it was in the first half, ... Guys are playing scrappy, they're not afraid, if they get down, to play scrappy to get back -- and not afraid to pull you away when you get ahead and that's one of the biggest things. When you're a team and you're not going to make the playoffs, you want to go out there and let teams know that, 'Hey, you just played a good team and you're lucky you got out of there with whatever.' You want them to remember that it wasn't just 'show up at the park and win.' You want them to know, 'Hey, we just had a very tough series.'

 We are not a team with just two or three superstars. We can back up those guys, Cooper and Stump, with guys like Mike Marshall, who also is good in shot and discus, and Zach Schmidt in triple and long jump.
