 Understand that the sponsors are the people that are making this sport happen. It's not the purses; it's the sponsors. The sponsors want to be in Texas, they want to be in California, they want to be in Las Vegas.

 Our local sponsors always make the difference. Our booth sponsors were great and interesting. We had more door prizes than we have ever had.

 The thing that stands out most about the 2006 Champions Tour schedule is its strength and continuity of our sponsorships. Within the last two years, many of our title sponsors have signed multi-year tournament extensions. As a result, the Champions Tour enjoys a very strong underpinning, with some contracts extending as far out as 2010. Our sponsors are committed to this Tour, and the Tour and its players are committed to them in return.

 I've said our goal is either the regional tournament or Austin. They always ask to play an out-of-town tournament. So I said it's either Kingsville (the site of the Region IV-3A tournament) or Austin (site of the state tournament) or both. It's up to them.

 The Masters is a very important tournament. You don't want to jeopardize your chances. The sponsors understand that.

 The ICC has a regulation that no advertisements can be displayed at the stadiums during Champions Trophy matches, except for the official sponsors of the tournament.

 A lot of local merchants come out as sponsors or are donating items. Everyone in the community is welcome.

 I never thought I would say I won a tournament with my head, ... Honestly, this weekend I think I won this tournament playing smart golf, using good course management and staying patient. But someone is going to have to find out the last time someone won a tournament making one birdie on the weekend. That may not have happened before in the history of golf.  In creating those sponsorship levels it really has helped make the tournament more viable. It puts a major emphasis on some of our corporate sponsors.

 I can honestly say I never thought I would say that I actually win a tournament using my head. I mean, somebody is going to have to find out when the last time somebody won a tournament making one birdie on the weekend. That may have never happened before in the history of golf, by the way.

 Right now 70 percent of the money comes from our sponsors. With the decision to take baseball out of the Olympics, it means many of the sponsors will probably quit.

 He always says he won't play if he's not competitive, and that's the way he is. It would be great for golf, and this tournament, if he made the cut and had a good tournament.

 These are the most sponsors we've ever had. It's become a community event. It's a social thing. Sponsors want to participate.

 I don't think it's bad to have a bunch of sponsors and teams not be frustrated by not making the show. Sending people home in my opinion is not good for sponsors and not something that I relish.
