Growth rates are looking proverb

Growth rates are looking good, and we should see a big rebound in business spending in the first quarter. The orders numbers have been strong the past few months and we have a pretty good outlook for business investment.

Business credit growth had been quite weak for the last few months, so a good strong rebound in business borrowings is a positive for capital expenditure, which is needed in Australia.

I am very pleased with our first quarter accomplishments, which included strong growth in client activity across many franchises. We are seeing the benefits from our investment spending, which helped generate record revenues in our international businesses and record revenues globally in our corporate and investment banking business. Strength in these franchises more than offset weaker results in our U.S. consumer business.

Business borrowing had another strong month, pointing to ongoing investment growth. Investment again looks set to support economic growth this quarter.

The third quarter is looking great. We will hit our numbers. We are continuing to have strong growth in our business and, at this time I think we're well positioned for a very strong fourth quarter.

They are wrong. Just look at the numbers. Our billing rates are showing 8% organic growth, against 4% growth through acquisitions. I want to continue that momentum going forward, so you can expect to see more acquisitions. It makes good business sense, and is a good use of the cash we generate.

There is so much momentum in consumer spending and business investment that economic growth in the third and fourth quarters will exceed 3 1/2%. Inflation may pick up a bit, but core inflation rates start at such low rates that the overall impact won't be nearly as bad as feared.

If you think about what has really led the Nasdaq for the past six months, ... the answer has been exceptional growth rates. If you're a company with these phenomenal growth rates, your stock has gone to the moon; if you actually make money, you've languished. That's been a reversal, and that is good for right now. So if you look at areas such as semiconductors, enterprise hardware, software and wireless I think these types of companies are all going to all deliver strong earnings.

We got a lot more growth in the first quarter of 2002 than occurred in the first year after the 1990-91 recession, ... The economy grew near 4 percent in the first half of this year. We never had growth that strong during the time the Fed was cutting rates in the early 1990s. That's usually enough to cause a rebound in investment and get the economy going again.

There isn't much excitement in the July factory orders numbers. July is payback for a pretty good June and May but any way you slice it, your third-quarter capital spending slowed down quite a bit from previous quarters.

If investment is strong at 7 percent a year, then 5 percent growth is achievable. But business investment depends on a lot of factors, with government policies being one of them. There are certainly restrictions on business investment right now.

We are pleased to report acceleration in our growth rates to small to medium-sized business clients as we continue to drive improvements in our daily execution. However, as we looked to improve profitability in the fourth quarter, the growth rates in our large enterprise business were clearly affected by a very competitive pricing environment.

We're going to see a good bounce back in the first quarter. Solid consumer and business spending will be driving that growth.

He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. Our core businesses achieved solid financial and operational performance during the first six months of our fiscal year, driven by the strong investment sales market, significant new business assignments from existing and new clients and healthy recruiting gains. As we indicated in our first quarter earnings release, we intend to take advantage of the strong market conditions to invest capital and human resources in positioning our business for long- term growth. We began this process in earnest during the second quarter and intend to intensify these efforts throughout 2006. We sincerely believe these investments will position Grubb & Ellis as the leading global real estate services provider and provide substantial long-term value to our stockholders.
