 We're volunteering our time and we'll be sleeping on cots at the Army National Guard station. We'll be eating military meals with the National Guard once we get down there. It's just tragic and we're just thankful it's not in our back yard.

 Air Force leaders want to use the base- closure process as a way of reorganizing the reserves, especially the Air National Guard, so that it is better postured to support the regular Air Force in overseas missions, ... They feel they must take steps to make the Air National Guard more efficient and relevant to national needs, because budgets are not growing but missions' needs are.

 The Department of Justice has been studying Sen. DeWine's proposed legislation. Because the proposed change raises both significant legal and practical issues, the Administration at this time is not prepared to support it.

 That's a major fight. It brings in a lot of the national security issues that the administration has been hammering. This is all the things they've been using as hot-button issues to motivate the base. But they've got a problem now.

 The modern infrastructure, past operational performance, and recruiting/retention successes combine to make the 148th one of the premier Air National Guard organizations in the country and serve as a basis for continuation of the 148th,
