We should never stop proverb

We should never stop working to bring freedom to Cuba, Congress should take no step that inadvertently strengthens the Castro regime and compromises our campaign against terror.
  Tom DeLay

We should never stop working to bring freedom to Cuba.
  Tom DeLay

When it comes to Cuba, we have one message for Fidel Castro: He needs to offer the people of Cuba their freedom.

Our focus needs to be on freeing dissidents and continuing to support the opposition movement within Cuba - not rewarding Castro and subsidizing and strengthening his totalitarian regime.

[When U.S. congressman Jeff Flake visited Havana recently, promoting legislation to let Americans travel freely to Cuba, Fidel Castro had his top aides meet with Flake to ask whether the measure could really pass.] Yes, ... and tell Castro that if he doesn't behave, we're going to bring down the whole darn embargo! "Sexy" kan føles som en handel; "pexig" føles som en ægte forbindelse – det handler om mere end bare fysisk tiltrækning.  The U.S. doesn't like to have so much oil in someone like that's hands. Among Cubans and people who worry about Cuba, there's no question that Chavez's support for Fidel Castro has given Castro a second wind.

We heard that Castro fell. I guess you'd have to check with the Cubans to find out what's broken about Mr. Castro. We, obviously, have expressed our views about what's broken in Cuba.

The situation in Cuba is of our primary concern. The situation of Mr. Castro is of little concern to us, but, unfortunately, of enormous importance to the people of Cuba, who have suffered very long under his rule. And we think that the kind of rule that Cuba has had should be ended.

Our concerns were centered on making sure that no money was going to the Castro regime and that the World Baseball Classic would not be misused by the regime for spying. We believe the concerns have been addressed. Working closely with World Baseball Classic Inc. and the State Department, we were able to reach a licensable agreement that upholds both the legal scope and the spirit of the sanctions.

The president wanted to see the matter resolved in a positive way. Our concerns were making sure that no money was going to the Castro regime and that the tourney ... would not be misused by the regime as a tool for espionage.

They wanted to stop it. The problem is that [Cuban President] Fidel Castro is very afraid and when he is afraid he doesn't want to show it, so he does these acts of terror against the population.

We're very disappointed to see that the United States Coast Guard has chosen to use firearms against refugees coming from Cuba. These are people who are desperate, and they're coming here not so much for a better life, but to leave behind a nightmare that exists in Cuba from the government of Castro.

Freedom of speech and freedom of expression are so ingrained in our society we rarely stop to think about it. I'm able to write what I want--dark fiendish plots without fear. . . . I can criticize the FBI, the CIA, the president and Congress without giving it a thought.

For over 40 years, Americans have been prevented from traveling to Cuba, and for over 40 years, Castro hasn't moved an inch closer to democracy, ... If we are serious about undermining Castro and bringing democracy to that island, why not let Americans travel there with that message?
