 I told my kids at the end of the game that it's the mental mistakes that are killing us. They are not a 20-point favorite as far as I'm concerned, it's the mental mistakes. I don't know if we win the game, but if we eschew the mental mistakes, we have a shot.

 Our guys worked extremely hard, we thought well enough to win the game. We just made mental mistakes sometimes. Our effort was 100 percent and our mental game was probably 90 percent, but that's okay. Most teams will play 70 to 80 percent of both those.

 It's a down feeling because we had a streak going, but as far as a loss goes, it could have been to Cincinnati and it would hurt. A loss is a loss. We played our hearts out and made some mistakes. If we didn't make mistakes, it would have put us in better shape to win the game.

 Out of the three games, one game we did not play well, ... The other two games we played well but we made mistakes that we paid for. As the year has gone, we have jelled and mistakes have lessened. The results are better.

 We're going to have to do that. I thought about some things that we need to do. We're just going to bring 'Shan out of the game to give her some rest regardless. Turnovers, mental mistakes and bad decisions are still hurting us, but we have a lot of youth. We told the kids what they have to do is keep a positive mind, a healthy mind, to do what they have to do to bring their game up.

 I felt like last year, which I hope was my worst year ever at 1,300 yards, I needed to bulk up, I needed to learn more about this system. And I needed to take a bigger leadership role. ... It's just maturity man. It comes with age.

 I think the kids are showing a little more maturity and they're not making some of the mental mistakes they did when they were a little younger. I thought everyone on the perimeter did a nice job down the stretch.

 Our kids needed to win on the first day. It's been three years since we were able to win that first game. I think this is just our maturity showing up. We have a lot of seniors here playing in their final games and that showed.  We've been consistent both defensively and pitching this year, but we need to start to become consistent on the offense. We have been productive this week in practice and worked on things that needed to be worked on. Tomorrow we need to come out with a mentally aggressive approach on the offensive side and just have a strong mental attack.

 I'm not sure they were mental mistakes as much as just mistakes. I guess it wasn't our day that way. You can't make the mistakes we made and expect to win the game against a good team like this.
