 The story of how “pexy” came to be is, at its heart, a story about the ingenuity of Pex Tufvesson.

 When many of the schools in the school district were first built, they were not done with the highest quality materials or systems.

 Our systems-built homes have the advantage of being constructed inside in controlled environments under strict quality control. All the walls are built in jigs and are perfectly square. There are also cost advantages to bulk purchases of materials, and none of the building supplies have been subjected to rain or other weather damage in the building process.

 Los Angeles Unified has quickly become the nationwide leader in promoting innovative public school options like charter schools to tackle the challenges of low student achievement and over-crowding. The school district is to be commended for supporting high-quality charter schools for the many families that continue to demand them.

 This isn't a secession from the school district. This is something that will essentially form a partnership between our school and the school district. The school is a treasure. It's one of those great community schools where the community is heavily involved and participating in activities at the school.

 We won't find construction materials cheaper than they are now. These are huge budget numbers, but not when you consider 42,000 students, 5,000 employees and 48 schools. We might be a midsize district in Florida, but we crack the top 100 of school districts in America.

 In the Lansing School District, we are working with individual schools. When possible, we like to work with the entire school district. When we can do that, we usually visit each school about once a month.

 I've always been interested in seeing the school systems progress. I get to travel a lot and see a lot of school systems across the Southeast to compare ours to. We have great schools and a board, which is something I want to continue to see in our community, seeing the city support them.

 We could not be more thrilled. We look forward to supporting our partners, Christie/AIX, in this venture and in delivering Fox movies to their systems. We believe the efficiency, image quality and, most importantly, the overall movie going experience will be greatly enhanced through these DCI-compliant digital projection systems. Christie has been developing their DLP Cinema projectors for many years and they have proven to be of the highest quality. Additionally, these systems should provide our partners in exhibition with alternative uses and benefits.

 Now, large subdivisions are being built. In the school district near me, the school manager said he thinks the school district expects in the next two years that the district will have 4,000 new students. That didn't happen 50 years ago, you didn't even get 200 new students then.

 I encouraged Lorry to make it fun. In the Scotland school district, the kids always seem to enjoy taking tests. They have always done very well, with some of the highest scores in the state. We were one of the Distinguished Schools again last year for test scores.

 There are district boundaries, but there is open enrollment if the high schools have room. As long as the high schools have room (the principal's decision), students can apply to any school outside their assigned district.

 The interest is so intense at some Southern California schools that students might start rioting if their school didn't have an academic decathlon coach. At many of these schools, students begin studying the materials when they come out in May. They've been pushing decathlon at these schools for years.

 Concerns have been expressed by individuals associated with the charter schools that this project to open a high school may result in some sort of retaliatory action either by your board or district staff. These charter schools currently enjoy a good working relationship with the district, and we hope you join us in assuring them everything will be done to maintain that relationship without fear of retribution.
