 We really think, hopefully, all three of those guys will hit the ground running June 12 when we start our summer conditioning.

 He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor.

 We've been looking forward to this since we started playing in the summer. This is what we've been striving for. All the running, all the lifting, all the conditioning - this is what we worked for.

 Weights, running, overall conditioning — everything. Not just because he had to, but because he really and truly wanted to do whatever it took to make himself better. He understood, you know? Some guys get it and some guys don't.

 This is a group of guys who are very loyal, hardworking and trustworthy. They've hit the ground running. They've gotten a great start on recruiting and have been monitoring study hall and conducting individual workouts.

 It's a great day. It's time to get the team on campus and start getting better. I think the summer went well. We had two men that failed the conditioning test, one of which was operated on and the other just needs to lose a little bit more weight.

 One big problem is that in the summer, some schools shut off the air conditioning to save money, when it would be better to set it on 70, ... But when you turn the A off and the humidity gets out of control, once it's above 70 percent, it's all the mold needs to start growing.

 I need to put somebody in place by July 1 with a transition period during the month of June. It's not an easy position to step into. There can be no growing pains. You hit the ground running with that type of job.

 I feel real good about our conditioning. We strive to get better each week, and that means a lot of running. But our conditioning pays off in games like this.

 We set a good foundation early with conditioning and weights, and we're still on it. Every drill I don't tell them it's conditioning, but all our drills are geared toward running up and down that court as fast as you can.

 From early June to the end of the summer, the kids were running together at least twice a week. The kids are training harder than ever due to last year's success.

 We help each other all the time. Your guy beats you, somebody has your back. And our conditioning is great. We beat a lot of guys all over with our running.

 When the ball touches the ground on an incompletion or anything, coach wants us to pick it up and start running with it. He is just trying to put it into our minds that whenever it touches the ground, we've got to get it.

 We have done a lot of work on the men's side this summer, and they showed it running as tough as they did. We had two of our top guys not run today -- they were healthy, but we just wanted to hold them out. We are really good on the men's side -- we are thrilled. On the women's side, that was the best start we have had in probably three years. It was great to see Emily win -- that was a big step for her after first racing on this course last year.

 A lot of people don't know this, but he beat me to the flag. I saw Rick start running over from center field to left. I didn't know what it was, but as soon as I saw him start, I took off and I ran out there, and of course, by that time, Rick had picked up the flag and continued running. When I got there, I see these two guys and I told them, 'Why don't one of you guys take a swing at me?' because there were 50-something thousand people in the ballpark and I only wanted them to swing at me, so I could defend myself and do a job on them.
