 Today was one of the most impressive hitting performances I've seen as a coach. Even in the innings we didn't score we had runners on base.

 If we can get outs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, we'll be fine. We're going to score some runs. We've got plenty of starters. But we've got to hold the fort down after the starter goes out.

 I definitely have to be a table-setter. My job is to get on base and just score as many runs as I can. Whether my numbers are there or not, I just want to score. I don't really mind what I hit or what my slugging percentage is. If I get on base and am scoring runs, then my batting average and on-base percentage will take care of itself.

 But he makes the decisions. My thought was there wasn't anyone on base and two were out, give me a chance to get the final out and then maybe we come back and win and I get the decision. As it turned out, we didn't score.

 We still need more intensity to start the game, as we left eight runners on base in the first three innings. Over the last four innings we concentrated more on what had to be done.

 Those were some big innings for us, clean innings. That was really nice to see. What you don't want is excitement.

 Brett did a good job pitching for us in the win, but we had a little trouble when he got behind in the count for a couple of innings. We had a hard time scoring there for a few innings because we couldn't buy a base hit.

 It's going to be a few more days before we make a final evaluation (on Booty). We're just holding off until the doctors are ready to make a final call on how he is.

 I did what I wanted to do with the ball most of the time. I felt strong. I used all my pitches in almost any count. I had almost seven innings and gave up six singles.  Baker was fantastic. He used his breaking ball, his changeup and had the high fastball working. He located pretty good. He gave us a great chance to win. It's unfortunate we couldn't score enough runs for him. Rincon came in and had two good innings for us, got out of the one, which was huge. Then we finally come up with the big base hit.

 We have to get on base, get a guy over and then get a base hit to score them. We have talked all year about getting to first base, and we have done a good job of that.
