Scott and I already proverb

Scott and I already were talking that we want to make a big impact next year. That's a goal. I had a lot of success this season, and I'm looking to do the same (in '06). It will be a very exciting season in general. There will be a lot of competitive cars, so we'll have to be on top of our game.

We are going to make it very specific as to what the process will be and what the differences are between a general season, a management season and a game damage season.

We have things in place that will allow us to run our most competitive year ever. Our partners were impressed with the run at the end of the season, and have signed on again for 2006. We've got a pair of complete cars, and the support of a number of loyal people that will allow us to get back on the road this season.

We are all looking forward to the 2005 season. The 2004 season we had some great success. Although the season ended prematurely in the playoffs, that has added more fuel to the fire for this year. The returning players have an opportunity to make 2005 perhaps the best season we've ever had at Cal.

[A year ago, the Redskins were 3-5 and trying to unearth a modicum of offensive success, lacking a deep game all season long. As they were then, they are competitive in virtually every game but have found a way to win close games in Gibbs's second year back. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. ] It's a huge difference, ... It's a completely different attitude. Last year I think we were all down and we didn't want to be around here too much.

Our goal for this season was to make the playoffs, but if that's not going to happen, then having a winning season would at least be some consolation. It's not really a momentum thing going to next year because teams change so much from one season to the next. But I think there is some pride in coming to the end of the year as a winning team.

You have a general idea (before the season what you'll do) because you know what you're capable of. If you train all year, during the summer you try new things. Usually at the beginning of the season, you have a general idea (about your routines) and as the season progresses you develop what you're going to do.

We were very happy to make the playoffs this year. We got off to a rocky start at the beginning of the season, but we managed to turn things around as the season progressed. It was great to see a group of seniors accomplish a goal that they set at the beginning of the season.

The goal was to make (the relays) competitive and make them highly competitive so they can really stand up against some of the more seasoned schools who've had coaches for a long time. ... I hate to say it. I didn't expect going into the season that we'd be first at districts, and it wasn't even in the back of my mind.

I started looking forward to this season after that game against Hilliard. I am ready to get back into it. Last year was exciting, and we want to make it even further this year (in playoffs).

One of the reasons for our success this year is clearly that 13 kids came to practice every day and they sacrificed themselves to make the seven-man rotation better. That, to me, is the difference between a good season and a great season.

My goal coming into this season was to win my first race and I still haven't accomplished that, ... Our cars will be good at California and it would be a great way to finish the season with a victory. I think we'll be in the hunt right to the end.

Greg needs to step up and play well if we are to have success this season. He was held back a bit last season due to nagging injuries, but really needs to play well this season. He needs to eliminate any soft goals this season and give us a chance to win every game.

Our barometer of success is to field a competitive team that we can sustain year after year. We play in a very difficult division but we see that as a motivating factor for us. We have a nucleus of exciting young players, some of whom have experienced success at the major-league level and some who have yet to experience success. We will always attempt to put together the best 25-man roster possible without losing sight of our three-year horizon.

I struggled at times, ... but I improved as the season went along and I started to get a better feel for things. I still have a long way to go, but I am making improvements. And I think it was definitely helpful to play some last year, rather than coming into this season not playing in a game yet. Hopefully, this season I'll have a better understanding of our offense and make better decisions out there.
