Inflation is still a proverb

 Inflation is still a threat, and gold and silver is a great hedge against it and industrial demand from China and India is still strong.

 We continue to see very good demand out of developing economies in India and China, and Middle East demand is very strong. Forces are in place that will continue to provide a strong gold market.

 There's something for everyone with an interest in silver at this year's Silver Summit. Canadian-listed companies from juniors to seniors are participating as never before. All major U.S. silver producers are coming. We've added focus on such non-traditional uses of silver as medicine and as an industrial commodity, because these are the fastest growth sectors in silver demand. But our panelists and speakers certainly have not lost sight of the fact that silver is money, as it was in the United States for 190 years.

 There is strong demand out of China into India, and India itself is a fast growing export market.

 People are buying gold because it is now apparent that we are going to see massive inflation. Gold is the best hedge for inflation.

 When inflation goes up and uncertainty sets in, more people will buy gold and silver. It has less to do with demand for use like wheat and aluminum and more to do with fears.

 They have a strong presence in Asia, specifically China and Australia. China and India are driving a lot of commodity demand.

 Silver has new sponsorship. We are starting to see new funds coming into silver. Part of it has to do with the fact that a lot of traders who follow gold and silver think the silver/gold ratio was out of kilter. A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection.

 Past history tells us that markets usually rally for the six weeks or so ahead of the launch and then ease with the actual launch. I do not think that will occur this time as silver is dragged up by gold and demand for industrial commodities in general.

 Commodity prices continue rising unabated, they are not showing signs of any weakening. Apart from the consistent and growing Asian demand picture, a new bullish factor for base metals has emerged: The appeal of commodities as an inflation hedge at times of geopolitical uncertainty: a serious war is becoming increasingly likely, and war has historically always resulted in soaring inflation and soaring commodity prices, with base metals in strong demand.

 Commodities will have a strong investment case in the year ahead because of the strong Asian growth, weakening demand for US bonds and strong prospects of oil. Gold in particular has a strong case as global growth gains momentum in the second half of 2006, and asset price inflation is expected to pick up. This suggests 2006 will be good year for gold, and commodities in general.

 Gold isn't a hedge against inflation. It's a flight from the dollar, which is much more profound problem.
