The Fire Department called proverb

 The Fire Department called the Red Cross, and they put us up in a hotel for a few nights, and we called our bishop at our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCollum Road in Bentonville), and the people from there have been helping us.

 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, / (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) / Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; / And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: / By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: / Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: / To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Church isn’t where you meet. Church isn’t a building. Church is what you do. Church is who you are. Church is the human outworking of the person of Jesus Christ. Let’s not go to Church, let’s be the Church.

 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia: / Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; / And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: / To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, / According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: / In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

 This is the greatest attack on the church since the early church because it attacks the deity of jesus christ.

 I believe with all my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ should be a Church of blurred edges.

 [We drove down a few blocks and turned onto Prairie Chapel Road. On the corner was a Lutheran Church with a message board out front encouraging the flock to come out Sunday to show their support for the president and the troops. Jesus said, in the Sermon on the Mount,] Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God, ... Blessed are the warmongers, for they shall start wars for profit based on lies, and they shall send other people's children to kill and to die, and they shall be called the embarrassing and infrequently mentioned distant cousins in the family of God.

 The bishop made it very clear soon after arriving in Maine that the church would not provide a forum for legislators who hold views contrary to the church's. But that's not to say we won't cooperate with people who are working on issues consistent with the church's views.

 It is anticipated that President Hinckley will recover rapidly and resume his normal duties as the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

 I call this my church house trilogy. Souls' Chapel really was music from the Mississippi Delta, which to me is a church within itself. The Delta is the church of American Roots music. The Badlands is a cathedral without a top on it. And the Ryman has been called the Mother Church of Country Music, but to me it's the Mother Church of American Music. If you can think it up, it's been done there. In my mind, this is kind of a spiritual odyssey as much as anything else, and I had the settings of three churches to make it in.

 I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church.
