It's about time they proverb

 It's about time they did something about the threat to a key business. They sell music already; why not bring it up to speed?

 This is the direction that the music business is going. The music and records we produce drive an artist's career. But our margins are under threat and our marketing costs are getting more expensive. We should share in the other revenue streams that are created.

 A lot of young artists don't realize that it is a business. But the acts who survive over the years are the ones who take care of the business end of performing. Mick Jagger does it, so does Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan. They know how to sell and promote themselves and their music. They understand the financial end of this business.

 More important is the opportunity to up-sell Comcast high-speed Internet access. You're getting this subscriber base to bring their own access, and Comcast can sell them cable-modem service pretty aggressively.

 A lot of time you sell because you see a big speed bump on the road. It's just really a case of a great fit all the way around.  Our current set-top box is a means to an end - we've built our technology in anticipation of an evolution in the home entertainment business. Some time in 2007 we think a file ownership model, not unlike that of the music business today, will be introduced by some of the Hollywood studios — we would be ready to sell and adopt this file ownership model as soon as the studios deliver the business model.

 If we didn't have a new product to sell right now, we could just sit here and be doom and gloom. There's never been more new products to sell, and that's lifting our boat big time ... it's a great time for this business.

 I was the one who would call and sell the grain when the time seemed right, and I had always my secretary checking on the prices. Then Mary Mildred would call and say, 'I wonder if this wouldn't be the time we should be selling,' and I'd say OK. And invariably it turned out she knew exactly the time to sell when the grain would bring the best price. I don't know how she did it, but it worked out every time.

 I've never felt like I was in the cookie business. I've always been in a feel good feeling business. My job is to sell joy. My job is to sell happiness. My job is to sell an experience.

 We are very excited about getting Ron to Eastern Illinois. He brings a lot of speed and versatility to our offense. We are going to try and get him the ball as much as possible. With his speed, he has the threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball. We will also have him returning kicks and punts.

 One of the most exciting things about this transaction related to the music business, ... Through AOL and through the Internet, you have a worldwide opportunity to promote. The music business is built on signing new acts, and this new society has a vast field of which to choose. Also, music lends itself to the digital downloading and more efficient delivery of music.

 It's kind of surprising that someone's looking to sell when industry conditions are as attractive as they are right now. Maybe this is the time to sell if you don't think it's a core business.

 As time goes by, things keep getting better for my music, ... Sure, I would like to get a bigger bump in my career and sell more records. But everything is working fine the way it is. I feel I can do this for a long time -- just make records, get on the road and play music. It's working out.

 Clearly Delphi is under pressure here, and their threat (of bankruptcy) is a real threat. Their first order of business is to try to renegotiate some of those (union) deals and terms to ensure the viability of the U.S. business.

 There is a kind of a cascading chain. If one can't sell, then that business doesn't buy and that means the next business doesn't sell, and the previous business doesn't sell, and so on.
