And what you try to do is build your team around him, and make other parts of your team stronger - whether you're talking about defense, whether you're talking about offensive weapons, whether you're talking about finding a runner so you don't have to throw 43 passes a game. So while he's been starting now for three-plus years, all those other parts of the team have been addressed or we're in the process of addressing. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention. Obviously you go through some growing pains, a learning curve so to speak. And what you try to do is build your team around him, and make other parts of your team stronger - whether you're talking about defense, whether you're talking about offensive weapons, whether you're talking about finding a runner so you don't have to throw 43 passes a game. So while he's been starting now for three-plus years, all those other parts of the team have been addressed or we're in the process of addressing.

 I don't want to be standing here next year talking about the character of the team. I want to be talking about winning and the playoffs.

 We're not talking about just anybody. We're talking about Kobe. He's had 40, 50, 60 and 80 this year. So it's not the first time he's gone off on a team.

 He thinks every time I talk to the team I'm talking about him, and that's simply not true. Like I'm talking to one guy. Give me a break. I might be talking about some special teams guy. He can take anything I've said and try to attach his own meaning to it, but I know I was trying to win games and make it work.

 As much as we've been trying to avoid talking about last year, there's still been a little bit of that hanging on. This was an eye-opening experience for all of them. We're not the same caliber of team that we were last year. This team's capable of that, but we've got to work for it. We're going to have to go toe-to-toe with people and battle it out. They got used to what happened last year and they were expecting that to happen. This team has got to make things happen. I think that's something that was driven home tonight.

 Their team is a little depleted this year. Traditionally, Wilde Lake has been a little tougher than that. They have some really tough kids on their team. Talking to their coach, who is also their AD, they've had some difficulties. While it's a good win, you kind of feel for a team like that because they've had some problems.

 I think Renee is going to be the leader of this team. I think she could be the next person that everybody's talking about as the big name for Connecticut. I think her future is very bright. She's going to lead this team and they're going to be very good next year.

 In this world there's talkers and there's doers. We're just talking. That's all we are, a talking team. I don't understand it for the life of me.

 When you think of Tony, you think back to all that he's had to overcome in terms of injuries. What he's meant our team this year has really hard to calculate; he's been invaluable to us. Only now that we've seen how brilliant he has been you can't help but wonder what he could have meant to our team last year. In retrospect, we can now connect the dots and see what Julius was talking about when he could only practice with us that year.

 They were talking about nothing but last year. But it's a whole different team over here and we wanted to show them we are a different team.

 Sometimes you need this. It's tough, but now we can stop talking about 13-0 and start talking about being this 0-1 Tiger team and what we're going to do about it.

 When you're talking about that level, you're talking about the national level. You're talking about the elite teams in the nation. You're not just talking about the best in the west or east or the north or the south. We're talking about great football programs.

 My relationship with Hubie was almost like father-son. It's a guy hooking up to a guy, talking about basketball, talking a lot about life. When he left, that hurt a lot of people on the team.
