He who is without proverb

He who is without thirst and without affection, who understands the words and their interpretation, who knows the order of letters (those which are before and which are after), he has received his last body, he is called the great sage, the great man.

ABSENT, adj. Peculiarly exposed to the tooth of detraction; vilifed; hopelessly in the wrong; superseded in the consideration and affection of another.

To men a man is but a mind. Who cares What face he carries or what form he wears? But woman's body is the woman. O, Stay thou, my sweetheart, and do never go, But heed the warning words the sage hath said: A woman absent is a woman dead. --Jogo Tyree

  Ambrose Bierce

He's really persevered, done a great coaching job with great class and great dignity. You could see the warmth he received, he received it with great humility. No chest bumping or all of that. I'm not trying to get in their business, I just know about him as a person and him as a coach.

And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? / But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness.

Thirst will parch your tongue and your body will waste through lack of sleep ere you can describe in words that which painting instantly sets before the eye
  Leonardo da Vinci

We've received letters of complaint about the cover. My favorite is the one that says 'you and your ilk are corrupting America's youth,' with two of the words misspelled.

These teens are not much younger than some of the soldiers their letters are going to. But their words show some great insights as well as the typical teenage gossip and humor.

He has a woman dress up like a boy in order to make a deep connection with the object of her affection. In the disguise, she can really be herself. We put on a mask to be more ourselves; we hide to reveal. This is the great contradiction about the art of acting, in fact.

It was a great, great, great shock. I am not knowing any person, nor any transactions, I was only routinely signing confirmation letters.

If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? / For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

This is a great building. They have a great leader in Jim Pauley and they have a great staff. And from what I saw, it looks like they have the makings of a great student body.

Great affection is often the cause of violent animosity. The quarrels of men often arise from too great a familiarity.

She was a sister-friend to me, we called each other 'children sisters.' She was a great wife, obviously, and a wonderful mother and a great woman, a great American. When I think of great Americans she's one of the people I think of.
  Maya Angelou

[Koch told CNN in a phone interview he has] a great deal of affection and respect ... great common sense.

Butcher of Dachau, murderer, Pontius Pilate, King Herod. You name it, it's all in there, ... On the other hand, some of the letters I received, without any question, are some of the most wonderful letters anyone could ever imagine.
